Extremely practical hotel perfect for what we needed
This hotel was perfect for what we needed it for. It is a little bit dated, but the room has all you need (air con and shower were excellent). We were also pleasantly surprised that we had access to a good swimming pool at a very nearby hotel. This was great, especially given the heat. We had a very small balcony but enough for two people to sit out. Only issue we had was the noise coming from the fridge on night one. Once we’d located the noise we simply turned it off and had no further issues. Staff were great when we needed to book a taxi, and it’s very close to the bus station.
PS - Please book a table at the restaurant across the road (our best meal in two weeks in Italy!)

Very disappointing reception by an always stressed staff especially in the dining room.

This is not a 4 star hotel 2 to 3 at most.
The only saving grace is its location 2 minutes walk to the lake but no views from the hotel it looks onto a busy side street and the outside space is a tired and unkempt courtyard which the staff use to park their motorcycles and take their breaks. The rooms were clean and reasonable size but our room had no window so very dark there’s not much privacy on the very small balconies which looked in need of some repair and a lick of paint. The bar is tiny no bigger than a snug and the house wines were almost undrinkable the house beer wasn’t much better. Apart from Sonia the only female waitress and the cleaners the rest of the staff were not particularly friendly and the manager seemed unhelpful and at times rude. Not sure why he’s in the hospitality business as he really didn’t want to be there we nicknamed him Basil. Breakfast was ok but the evening meal wasn’t good. One night I was given a very small square of fish that had obviously been under a heat lamp so hard on top and slimy skin the potatoes were black as was my friends meal so we sent it back but no apology or offer of an alternative so we ate out after that. The restaurant had no atmosphere and felt like a canteen rather that a 4 star restaurant very stark with no decor. We travelled with Great Railway Journeys and some of our group had rooms at the front but had to keep the windows closed due to the noise of the road. We were directly above the kitchen so we were woken most mornings at 5 am by the staff who made no attempt to keep the noise down. There is no on site facilities or entertainment of any sort the sister hotel does have a pool but for those people with limited mobility it’s a good 10 minutes walk. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in especially as it’s been given 4 stars. Unless you just do bed and breakfast for one night I would go somewhere else.

A great find with great access to the lake
Originally I was going to give this 5* review because this was a little gem in the centre of Garda itself but I think there’s just a few little areas which would elevate this hotel a bit more.
Rooms are spacious, clean and well-equipped. I may be wrong but I believe all rooms come with a balcony which gives some much needed outdoor space.
The breakfast served was varied, it was the same every day but there’s enough to keep even the most fussy of eater happy here and the staff are extremely friendly and happy to help. Little tip for people, grab a drink in the bar here. The bar bill we received was really good value and much cheaper than surrounding bars and restaurants.
The little bits where some improvement could be made were: we had the DND light on our room but got back to find the cleaners had been in anyway. It turns out there is a paper door hanger which needs to be put on the door instead so the lights on the outside serve no real purpose.
I know it’s central Garda but the parking for the hotel is a good half a mile away from the hotel so when you’re arriving and departing you have to do a quick drop and run outside the hotel on the street.
Finally, we couldn’t always use the outdoor terrace for breakfast as the water had pooled on it and couldn’t be swept away quick enough. A change to this would elevate the breakfast experience.
Overall though, a great find in a beautiful location with easy access to all parts of the town. Would highly recommend this to travellers heading to the lake.

Hotel Centrale Garda
The room was clean and comfortable and cleaned daily. The shower products provided were of low quality. (Take your own) Wide choice of good food at breakfast but the same every day. Evening meal had to be ordered the night before and what you received sometimes wasn't what you ordered - aubergine replaced by courgette, Garda perch replaced by breaded plaice. Well cooked meals and the pasta starters were very good.
The lounge area was comfortable but really a wide corridor to the dining room and lift.
Graded as a 4 star but compared with other 4 star hotels in Italy it was nowhere near the grade.
