Warning: Unsafe and invasive host – avoid this place

Everyone, do yourself a favor and read the negative reviews before booking this place. I wish I had. My partner and I arrived after a long day of travelling and were immediately stuck in a one hour monologue about politics including Trump. We are Canadians, not Americans, yet somehow this man thought we needed a full lecture. Odd start, but it got worse.
Once we were finally shown to our room, he casually dropped comments like “if anyone complains about noise message me directly, I’ll go to their room and stab them. They better pray to God.” Yes, he actually said that. At that point I was just trying to stay polite because arguing with someone who brags about stabbing guests did not feel like a safe option.
Next day we left early to sightsee. When we came back around 5:30 PM we walked into a nightmare. Mattia had done "housekeeping" but not the normal kind. No clean sheets, no clean towels, not even a wiped bathroom. Instead, he had gone through all of our belongings. My cosmetics were stuffed into my handbag, my linen pants that I laid out for dinner were shoved deep into my suitcase, he had opened packing cubes with my underwear, moved my toothbrush, contact lenses and even put my earrings into my backpack. A grown man rummaging through everything you own is not cleaning. It is creepy and a major privacy violation.
Because he already showed unstable behavior we did not feel safe confronting him. I texted instead asking him to please not enter our room the next day. His reply was a long rant about bacteria, cockroaches and disinfecting mattresses. Completely missing the point that nobody asked him to reorganize our personal belongings like a burglar.
We called booking.com who spoke to him which made us even more uncomfortable, but luckily we did not run into him again.
Apart from the huge privacy violation, the room itself wasn’t even clean. The area felt sketchy and the whole stay was stressful. This man should not be running guest accommodation. If you value your privacy, safety and sanity, stay far away.
And yes, I’m sure he will respond with a long defensive essay below, just like he does under every other review mentioning privacy issues.

Bedbugs in bed

Be careful. My wife and I were bitten by bedbugs. So be careful. Every day, check your skin for bites. I don't know why but we can't leave a negative review on booking.com.

Bad cleaning

Bad cleaning, presence of insects in the room and in common places, not just mosquitoes, certainly I am an allergic subject and I had a strong reaction, but a pest control should be done. 57 stings on the body when you wake up is really a lot.

Clean and comfortable.

Nice place to stay, helpful owner. Stayed at room 7, with a small balcony. Close to the main railway station. Prepare to pay in cash the seven euro per day tourist tax, the rest is card.
You can have a free coffee or tea in the morning in the common kitchen.
