A relaxing space that is not only stylish

The facility is stylish from the cafe space on the first floor to the accommodation space on the fourth floor.
Yet there is also an IH stove in the common space on the third floor, so it is a friendly inn for those who want to save money on long trips.
It is about a 20-minute walk from JR Higashihagi Station, so it is a little away, but it is a 2-minute walk from the bus center.
There are also two supermarkets within a three-minute walk, so it's a good location (note the closing time is early).
And most importantly, the personality of the owner.
When I was at the cafe alone, he was kind enough to talk to me about various things, and told me about his trip and the local shops.
When traveling alone, I am very happy with such small considerations.
It was an inn where I really wanted to stay again when I went sightseeing in Hagi.

Clean, welcoming Hostel

Our family of 5 stayed in the family room that contained 3 bunk beds. Although the space was compact, the beds were comfortable. Each bed had a good reading light and a sack to put your eye glasses in or other little things next to you.
Shoi the owner was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on dining. Very very clean!
We loved having the use of the kitchen where we made our own breakfast and met other guests, mostly from other parts of Japan.
Great location very close to bus station and a landmark schoolhouse and Samurai training center.
I was interested in the famous tea bowl pottery that the town is known for. Wandered around the galleries but most studios were closed for the New Years week. Castle ruins interesting as well.
I would definitely stay again at this simple well appointed hostel.

One of the best guesthouses where I've been to

This is such an amazing place to stay! It's a rather small guesthouse (although quite a lot people can stay here) but it's super comfy. It's obviously designed with much care and love, the furniture seems to be handmade. I simply loved the architecture and interior design! The owner, Shio-san, is one of the loveliest person I have ever met and he is always smiling. Despite the guesthouse facilities on the 3rd and 4th floor (dormitories, private room, clean washrooms, nice kitchen and balcony) there is a common area on the 2nd floor and a café selling local beverages on the 1st one. A lot of local people come here too, so a great opportunity to meet others. During my stay a workshop by a talented artist and a live concert took place as well. I guess there are those kind of events happening from time to time which is really nice. Definitely would stay here again!

Friendly hostel in quiet town

We stayed in the hostel with the whole family including three kids. The moment we entered the hostel, we decided to stay one more night. Shio was the best host. He connected right away with the kids making fun with them until we left two days later. We enjoyed Hagi very much, visited the smallest vulcano, the juice factory, beach and castle. In the evening we sat together in the bar with other travellers. Very nice, friendly atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse.

Amazing Boutique hostel!

This hostel is amazing, It has the feeling of a boutique hotel but with amazing prices! The manager/bartender speaks good enlgish and helps you with all your requests. All the satff is really nice. Everything is really clean and has a great taste! The private room is a traditional japanese room so it is a great experience worth the increase in price. The location is amazing, really close to the bus station and you can walk to the main attractions or atke the touristic bus just steps away. The breakfast is good and cheap and the coffee is really good!
