Fantastic stay!
The main part of the hotel looks a bit old, like taking a step back in time. It's all clean and well maintained though.
We had a room with a private Onsen bath on the balcony and just... wow. The room was huge, spacious, the amenities were amazing, everything was clean and just amazing. The beds were comfortable and the bath fantastic! The shower is also spacious and just great. We would have loved to stay one more night, but sadly the room was already booked.
Service was also great all the time! Dinner and breakast is a buffet style and there are plenty of options, everything is being refilled quickly and it tasted really great.

We love the beautiful onsen facilities, especially the public baths with their larger and more spacious atmosphere. I personally prefer the public onsens, where I can fully relax and enjoy the traditional hot spring experience. My wife, on the other hand, especially enjoyed the private hot spring bath in our room, which she used throughout our stay. Having that private bath made the experience even more relaxing and convenient.
The food is another major highlight. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets are excellent, with a wide variety of choices and consistently good quality. The buffet experience is one of the things we always look forward to whenever we stay here.
Most importantly, the staff are genuinely friendly, professional, and caring. On the day of our departure, the taxi we had reserved was cancelled without our knowledge. Instead of simply apologizing or leaving us to figure it out, the hotel staff personally drove us to the train station. That level of hospitality really touched us and showed the heart of Japanese omotenashi service.
Asaya Hotel continues to be our “only hotel” choice whenever we visit Kinugawa Onsen. Between the onsens, the food, the service, and the warm hospitality, it truly feels like a place worth coming back to every year.

Buffet dinner was delicious. Hot tubs is clean and amenities including shower head were great. Recommend to stay just one night. Because the “Kinugawa” itself is a small town and surrounded by abandoned buildings, not much to do.
The check in staff didn’t let me know you needed reservation for the return taxi. I planned to grab a taxi to the train station at the check out but then, the staff told me without taxi reservation or shuttle reservation, waiting time for a taxi is around one hour. We ended up walked to the train station but missed the train and spent 5 hours waiting for the next train.
I think the hotel staff should have let me know the reservation when I checked in as they knew we took a taxi to get to the hotel at check in.
Lack of taxi service is understandable due to the size of town, so make sure to ask about the taxi or shuttle for your return!!!
The check in staff was impersonal. The hotel seems to cater to a large group of people so if you are looking for more of traditional type of Japanese hotel service, look other hotels. But over all great hotel experience.
