Super budget stay

Lovely traditional Japanese accommodation. Beds were super comfy and the staff were very friendly and helpful . Nice having the fridge in the common area. Would definitely stay here again if ever back in Japan

Dated accomodation

We didn't love this one. We found the room musty and the overall condition of the Inn very aged. We'd slept on tatami mats previously but found these ones uncomfortable. Positives were that the location was good and the pricing is reasonable.

Excellent place to stay in the heart of Takayama

We stayed at Rickshaw Inn as a family of 4 in May 2024 for 2 nights while exploring Takayama. We stayed in the large Sakura room, which was by far the most spacious room we had during our whole trip to Japan. There were 4 futon set out for us, a large seating area, and it was very comfortable. The front staff was super kind and gave us some nice recommendations on restaurants in the area, getting around, and helped arrange parking there when we decided to rent a car for this portion of our trip.
The location was very convenient too. We had no problems getting to all the areas around town we wanted to see (though we were glad to have the rental car to get to places like Hida no Sato and further afield--possible by bus, but easier to drive) and there were a ton of restaurants in the area as well.
We absolutely loved Takayama and really want to go back, so we'd definitely consider staying here again.

Very authentic hotel with incredible location!

The hotel is located in the center of Takayama so you can walk to all the places of interest. It is a very authentic accommodation, with Japanese-style rooms with futons. The rooms are spacious. It has a very nice common space with sofas and a kitchen, which was very good for us for breakfast and dinner. The girl at the reception is very friendly and gave us many recommendations. It is an accommodation that we recommend without a doubt!

If you don't mind reception hours, a very good option

Good hotel to visit the city, close to the train and bus station and close to the center. Good rest and good wifi. The only drawback is the limited reception hours and that they had no option to store suitcases. They sent us a message saying that they could be stored in a space in the hotel, but when we arrived the door was closed.
