Riga 2026-Underated City, Amazing Hotel and Location

Just got back from Riga and found the whole experience really good. Hotel location wise is ideal. Most attractions are within ten minutes walking distance from hotel to the Old Town. Having said that once you get your bearing, it's an easy city to navigate in terms of walking and even using public transport. I felt very safe and the surrounding area near and outside the hotel was spotless. The hotel was clean. The rooms were well maintained and the beds were comfortable. Staff were super welcoming upon checking in and we're very helpful and knowledgeable about the hotel and city. Whilst the hotel does seem a little old fashioned we were both (I travelled with a friend) overall satisfied. The hotel is also reasonably priced aswell. I would highly recommend using this hotel from my personal experience and would gladly recommend anyone (especially from UK) to travel to Riga and explore it top to bottom to gain an understanding of Latvian and East European culture, along with it's art and history. Plenty of places to eat and drink. (I'd personally recommend taking a visit to Jurmala beach as well) Already looking at my next adventure (most likely will do Tallinn and Vilnius also) and will most likely come to the same hotel. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for a pleasant stay and to some of the local Latvians for their hospitality as we explored the city.

Lovely Monica Hotel

Just got back from Riga. The Hotel Monika Centrum Hotel is in a great location. 15 minutes walk through the park into the old town, alternatively walk down Elizabeth street to the river and waterfront.
Hotel rooms were of a good size and spotlessly clean and beds made up every day.
Breakfast was plentyful. We couldn't find fault with anything.

Excellent location, mixed experience with the room

We have visited Monika every year and have always brought along new guests with us. The location and architecture are excellent. However, there was noticeable dust in the rooms. We were also surprised that although we traveled from Estonia as a group of six (booking three rooms), our room — which was the most expensive — turned out to be the smallest and the least comfortable.

Very nice and pleasant stay

most importantly - People

A nostalgic hotel, in a good location, but most importantly - the staff. And to hear from the administrator that you are not a SSR here is really unpleasant. The language in which a person speaks probably does not say anything about the person...We had booked for 2 adults and 2 children, but we only found a double bed. The administrator said that it was only reserved for 2 adults, then she checked and said that she hadn't noticed, although she had asked if there were four of us. Then the employee brought us one extra bed.
