Perfect Puerto Vallarta alternative with great location, staff, facilities

The staff at Hotel Meson de Mita truly made our stay exceptional. Brisea, the manager, handled our original reservations in person and was incredibly helpful in accommodating our schedule and recommending the best ocean-view room. Jorge, the desk clerk, later assisted me by phone to add an extra day to our stay, checking in with Brisea to ensure we received the best price. Jesus, who worked the night shift, helped with some logistical issues after hours and made me feel right at home with his wonderful attitude. My room was absolutely fantastic. We were right over the beach, with a nice private deck, where I was able to do my morning and evening yoga routines. Absolutely majestic! The pool is well-maintained and refreshing. The Hotel’s off-street, gated parking was a bonus. The shops and restaurants adjacent to the Hotel Meson are charming. OMG, the espresso shop adjacent to the hotel has the best coffee and almond croissant. We particularly loved walking to Parrot Fish Sushi. Be sure to see my review of this fine restaurant. The puestos along the street have very high-quality silver jewelry at better pricing than in Puerto Vallarta. I brought home some presents for the family and friends. I absolutely appreciated the hotel's location. We were close enough to take day trips to San Pancho, where we found additional excellent restaurants and loved their beaches. We were at Punta Mita for the boat trips to Islas Marietas, a visit to Playa de Amor, and snorkeling. (BTW, the best person to arrange for these excursions is Rudy - a well-respected local who has direct relations with the local boat coop. Ask any local for Rudy, and they will put you in contact with a smile. He’s exceptionally trustworthy, and we got 1/2 off what the large tour company offers.) Overall, I will return here with my family in the near future. Brisea’s management of this establishment makes it a very welcoming, well-run, and strategic venue for visitors to the Puerto Vallarta region. Besos a Brisea!

Good evening

All very well until the next night of our stay a very large group of teenagers from some club or school arrived. They practically took over the premises and our rest was minimal. The beds that are on the beach were ideal to watch the sunset but we only enjoyed such an afternoon. The hammocks outside our room were a meeting point for the boys so there was almost always a lot of noise. Otherwise it is a small hotel but with good size of the rooms, has safe and shower with hot water. Breakfast at the hotel is good with ingredients to prepare chilaquiles, two options of eggs, scrambled, fruit, coffee, hot cakes.
It should be mentioned that the beach in front of the hotel is somewhat rocky but on the eastern side crossing the breakwater is a little better the beach. If you bring a car it is a good place to explore the riviera or take a tour to the islands or see whales.
Note: The hammocks outside rooms 107 and 108 are for public use, so any guest can use them

The hotel does not include extras you may expect like coffee and drinking water. It is difficult to swim at the beach because of the rocks and shallow entry. The owner owns most all of the hotels and restaurants along this strip so there isn’t much competition for prices. Better to walk a block up for better prices in the restaurants.
They also own an apartment complex nearby and the residents are allowed access to the pool area at Hotel Meson, so it may see busier than you would expect with people doing daily business rather than just relaxing. One guy came every day and listened to the news loudly in the middle of the lounging area. Staff was nice and laying in the hammocks in the warm evenings was a highlight.

I hate to give this hotel an average rating because it has so much going for it. Great location, great price, great facilities, breakfast, etc. However, on night 3 of my stay a couple vans of roughly 30 high school kids from Mexico City rolled in for a 3-night stay. It is a small hotel, and they took up about 80% of the rooms. Up all night and literally going crazy! Loud, obnoxious, completely uncontrolled and up until 3:00 AM screaming every night. I don't blame them, they are teenagers and when I was that age I woulda done the same thing if left to my own discretion. The bad part was the hotel did absolutely NOTHING to control it or even acknowledge it the next day, or the next two days, despite 3 or 4 of us complaining. I got NO sleep for three nights. Worst part was, on my last day, the guy at the hotel told me that these kids come EVERY YEAR at the same time and this is a scheduled occurrence! Instead of doing the right thing and not booking other rooms during this time due to the disruption, they didn't and a handful of us suffered big time. Capitalism at its best with no regard for their guests. Truly disappointing.
