Affordable Friendly Comfy Hostel With Scenic Terrace
Because it was so late, there were no taxis available to get me back out to the countryside on the outskirts of Essaouira. A friend suggested Atlantic Hostel, and I’m glad they did. Even at that late hour, I was welcomed without any hassle. Hostel is just a short walk from entering Bab Doukkala Gate. Locals pointed to where the hostel was,.. very easy to find.
They had a bed available in a female dorm, and check-in was smooth. The bedding was clean and crisp—something I always pay attention to—so I had no concerns about sleeping there. For me, cleanliness matters more than luxury, and this place delivered where it counts.
The reception guy was especially helpful, friendly, accomodating. The next morning, I needed to run an errand, and he allowed me to store my music equipment in a locked room. That made a big difference, as I didn’t have to carry everything around with me.
The price is very reasonable for Essaouira, especially if you’re not looking for luxury perks. This is definitely a no-frills, laid-back place with a friendly, homey feel. It’s ideal if you just need a clean, comfortable place to sleep. And they have a kitchen upon the terrace that serves OJ and other things (didn't see the menu).
One thing to note: it’s a cash-only hostel, so be sure to bring dirhams—no credit cards are accepted. And check out is 12:00 noon, nice for late sleepers.
I’d recommend Atlantic Hostel to anyone looking for an affordable, simple, and welcoming stay. If you’re expecting luxury, this might not be your spot—but if you value cleanliness, kindness, and practicality, it’s a great choice.
