Classic, beautiful, welcoming!

We spent 2 wonderful nights in the magnificent Marrakech Suite. From the moment we arrived, Ot‘man was a gracious, helpful host who made us feel most welcome. The suite is MUCH larger than most Riad rooms and very comfortable - with a rare window to the outer street (typically Riads only have windows to the interior courtyard). We could gladly have spent more time at this lovely, grand place.

Dreamy stay in Fes

Staying at Riad Alya was the highlight of my first time in Fes. I spent five nights in the Marrakesh Suite. From the moment I arrived, everything felt thoughtful, warm, and deeply rooted in Moroccan hospitality. The riad itself is stunning. The walls are covered with intricate tile work and carved wood. The soft light pouring into the courtyard through the citrus tree was so romantic at every hour of the day.
The Marrakesh Suite was beautiful and incredibly comfortable. City views and courtyard views, comfortable bed, a luxurious chaise for lounging. But real standout was the massive tiled tub. It was honestly unforgettable. After long days wandering the medina, soaking there was surreal.
The staff were genuinely kind and attentive without ever being overbearing. They made me feel at home in a way that’s hard to put into words. Mahmoud, Chaemae, and Othmane at the front desk were all quick to offer excellent recommendations for tours and itinerary stops. I was able to maximize my time and make the best of it due to Mahmoud’s thoughtful suggestions for sightseeing. Chaemae even took some photos for me in my Caftan because I’m traveling solo. She did a great job!
The food was such an incredible part of this stay for me. Eating in the riad felt like enjoying a meal prepared by someone who loves you. Everything was consistently delicious, fresh, comforting, and clearly made with care. I was able to try a lot of traditional staples, and there were new dishes each day! It was amazing.
Being greeted each morning by Idriss with my breakfast and coffee was truly the best way to start the day. He was so thoughtful and always made sure I had plenty to eat!
Everything in the riad was impeccably clean, and they even took care of my laundry, which made a longer stay feel effortless. I still don’t know how they do it, it was like magic. I worked in hospitality for years, I know the amount of labor it takes to keep space like this so immaculate. Bravo
I had an incredible experience at the Riad’s hammam, I received a traditional hammam experience and an hour massage from Bouchra. She was so skilled and kind. What a way to relax, just steps from my room!
If you’re looking for a place on the edge of the Fes medina that balances beauty, comfort, and heartfelt service, Riad Alya is something special. I would return in a heartbeat.
I have stayed in over 20 different hotels and riads throughout Morocco, and this was the best stay I’ve ever had. I will be back.

Exceptional stay — the best of our Morocco trip
We stayed here from May 13–15, 2026, and had an excellent experience. This was the best hotel stay of our entire Morocco trip (Marrakech, the Sahara Desert, Fes, Chefchaouen, Tangier, and Casablanca).
Our deluxe suite on the first floor was huge, elegant, and full of character. The ceiling must have been at least 15 feet high, which made the room feel grand and beautiful. The bedroom, separate living room, and antique-style bathroom were all very spacious, and the suite even had a charming loft area on the side.
What impressed us most, though, was the outstanding service. Mahmoud was truly wonderful. You can feel that he is genuine and takes real pride in his work — it is clearly not just a job for him. He loves what he does and helped us better understand the city, the culture, and the local way of life.
One especially memorable example was when I realized I had left my belt behind. Mahmoud checked the cost of different options and suggested that using Morocco’s fast delivery service would be the best way to get it back. He arranged the delivery and even communicated with locals in Arabic to make sure everything was handled properly and delivered to me befoire handing back to NY.
Overall, this was a very, very impressive stay. The room was beautiful, the property had great character, and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Morocco.

A very pretty riad in the Medina. Staff was lovely. Breakfast is served on the terrace with a view of the city.

Would Stay Again!

This riad is easily reachable from driveable roads, so it isn't a tough journey to get to! The area surrounding the riad is also very clean, and makes it easy to reach everything there is to see in Fes. The traditional welcome was a lovely experience, especially as the courtyard is very grand and feels palatial. We were in the room that is directly off of the courtyard, which was massive (including the bathroom). Sleep quality and temperature was excellent. Noise was not an issue, even when there was live (traditional) music in the courtyard on one of the nights. The breakfast was delicious and sufficient, and the staff were all great and helpful...even making the breakfast to go for us on the day that we did a day tour to Chefchouaen.
