Perfect
We stayed at the Assakina for 3 nights, the Riad was recommended to me by a friend and it did not disappoint.
It is a perfect oasis of calm in what at times can be quite overwhelming outside.
Grant and Michelle are the perfect hosts and really could not do more for guests.
We stayed over a long weekend, the rooms were brilliant, Michelle took time to explain the surroundings and organised cabs - nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfasts were brilliant each day as were the tea and cakes.
If you are looking for somewhere in Marrakesh then look no further.
It is a perfect oasis of calm in what at times can be quite overwhelming outside.
Grant and Michelle are the perfect hosts and really could not do more for guests.

A riad from a thousand and one nights in the heart of the medina.
I spent 4 nights (May 9) with my husband in this elegant riad.
The riad is located on a very quiet street but in a strategic position to visit the city on foot as well.
The entire riad is tastefully furnished, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable; our suite was truly beautiful with well-curated decor and a charming atmosphere. On the roof, there is a solarium with a pool and a terrace with a beautiful view of the medina.
But the extra touch is represented by the staff members, Hicham, Haki, and Naual, who are always smiling and available, ready to solve any problem as well as give us tips and advice for various excursions and suggest different experiences to try in this fabulous city.
I highly recommend it!!!!

British Charm Meets Authentic Moroccan Elegance in the Medina
We spent five wonderful nights at Riad Assakina, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
The location is excellent—right in the Medina, yet remarkably quiet and peaceful. It’s just a 5-minute walk to Bahia Palace and conveniently located next to a taxi drop-off point, making access easy and stress-free.
Riad Assakina is beautifully maintained—very clean, calm, and thoughtfully designed. The owners, Michelle and Grant, have created an authentically elegant space full of charm and character.
Breakfast is excellent, and the staff were consistently responsive and efficient. A special mention goes to Hisham and his colleagues, whose warm and attentive service made our stay very enjoyable.
Although the riad does not operate as a restaurant, our hosts went above and beyond by preparing delicious tapa-style dinners for us. Thanks to them, we were introduced to the Moroccan specialty pastilla—a culinary highlight.
We enjoyed Grant’s British humor and thank him for the occasional glass of “haram” wine! At the same time, Michelle’s well-organized approach and firm enforcement of house rules ensured everything ran smoothly and comfortably for all guests.
We highly recommend Riad Assakina to anyone visiting Marrakesh—it’s a perfect blend of elegance, hospitality, and authenticity. Should we ever come back, we will certainly seek to stay at Riad Assakina, Inshallah!

Just wonderful!
Absolutely wonderful, beautifully built in a traditional style with unique touches, a testament to the owners who have completely rebuilt it. Their attentiveness goes beyond the building to every visitor, personal and caring in every aspect. Delicious breakfasts and helpful recommendations made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Great location too, close to the old Medina, and lots of classic sights.

Wonderful
A long overdue review of a fabulous place to stay. All the good things in all the other reviews are totally true. Great location, amazing building, beautiful decor and design, fabulous views from the roof, extremely comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts, helpful sightsdeeing and restaurant advice on tap...and the daily tea and cakes as...well...the cherry on the icing of those cakes!
It wasn't the right time of year for the little dipping pools, and sadly there was no evening food available (due to circumstances beyond anyone's control) but neither of these detracted from our stay.
We stayed in a very expensive hotel at the end of our holiday and endlessly commented that it wasn't a patch on Riad Assakina. They needed Michele's skill and magic.
Thank you Michele and team. You were all wonderful hosts (and please could you come and design the interior of my house one day?)
