Wonderful staff!!

While the riad itself is nice, the staff are what made the stay excellent!
The reception staff was always so friendly and helpful and were always willing to answer any questions we had. I went to the reception to ask for local music recommendations (a travel habit of mine) on two different days, and both times their responses were great; first I was recommended a band that the receptionist has a personal connection to, and the second time I recieved a long list of both traditional and modern music! It was really comforting to feel like I could turn to the reception for any reason and be met with a genuine response. I especially want to thank Farid for being very kind and patient with me during my occasional moments of panic due to my family missing their flight, which led to me being on my own at with a card that I somehow managed to lock on my first day.
The riad is lovely and is comfortably located in the medina with it being a short walk to many of the sights and places to visit, without being in the middle of the noise. If visiting in winter, make sure to pack some warm clothes to sleep in as the rooms get fairly cold. There is an AC that can blow warm air, but if you're like me and don't do well with humidity, you'll want to air out the room after showers and then it gets cold again (I'm not used to ACs so this might actually just be a skill issue on my part). It can be a bit loud if other guests are returning after you are asleep, and there seems to be a cleaning agent in use that leaves a very strong smell that did disturb me the first two nights as I'm a bit sensitive to fragrances, but the beds are comfortable and I slept well most nights. Overall, the stay was pleasant and the staff was really wonderful, I hope to visit soon again!

Service and Food needs to improve

he riad is quite close to the main square, souks, restaurants, tourist spots. Aesthetic is lovely , it looks elegant. There’s a complimentary 15 mins spa.
The service isn’t that great in this riad. There’s no remote to the TV in the room, no restaurant, no information about services or lack of it, you need to discover it yourselves.
The breakfast is very disappointing, everything is cold. The mint tea is cold and they do not bother to replenish it. The hot food is cold and they do not bother to keep it warm. The coffee machine brings out sweet coffee, no consideration if the guest takes sugar or not. Before 9 AM, there’s no more juice and they do not bother to put more. If there’s food running out, they do not bother to put more. The food service is as bad as the overall service of the hotel staff. Very bad communication from staff, no smiles, the welcome seems forced or fake.
The room we stayed in was large enough and clean enough but there’s a pungent smell from the toilet bowl every now and then. The shower takes time to heat p, and you end up wasting water. The lack of shower curtains also mean the floor towel needs to be changed regularly as it gets too wet. They provided shampoo of the lowest quality and unsure if the other bottle is soap or conditioner.
There is a hair dryer that stops midway. There is a noise coming from a machine somewhere which can disturb at night.
When asked if taxi can be booked, the front desk couldn’t help much and was more interested with her mobile phone. There was not much offer of assistance or how guests are or if they need anything.

Do not recommend Riad Challa

I had a very disappointing stay at Riad Challa. The rooms are very small, the TV had no remote, and the AC remote didn’t work because it had no batteries. The street to the Riad feels unsafe, especially at night.
The staff constantly tried to sell extra services, like excursions and spa treatments, and the prices were very high, more like a 5-star hotel, which does not match the quality of the Riad.
Overall, the combination of small rooms, poor facilities, unsafe location, and aggressive upselling made this stay very unpleasant. I would not recommend this Riad and suggest looking for alternative accommodation in Marrakesh.

Would stay again

Really amazing place. Elegant and quiet, with the staff very kind. Beautiful and tidy rooms, maybe you could improve the breakfast a little and make it a little more international.
If you want some advice on how to experience the city and avoid fraud, the staff at the reception will advise you.
