Enjoyable stay

Lodge of one in between on the road comfortable and welcoming.
If everything is complete towards the dunes, do not hesitate to stop there.

mediocre

After staying at some lovely lodges, this one came as a surprise. Not a particularly warm welcome, a cavernous, soulless dining room with mediocre food. A shabby room with an awful smell of drains (which came on in the night, waking me up!). I would not return.

Youth hostel

We probably had bad luck. Due to a mishap, we were accommodated for a few hours in the sister lodge, which had a really high standard. This lodge is used for the nature tours. Here, there are free-roaming zebras, elands, rhinos, and more. And extremely friendly and dedicated staff.
And then came the Hammerstein.
Basically a normal lodge, with a main building and accommodations. The quality of the accommodations is... below average. Noisy, not really darkenable, the bathroom in the picture may exist, but ours had a camping site character, the shower was installed at an angle of about 180 cm, and the toilet's drainage pipes were uncovered and still had the hardware store stickers on them.
Breakfast until 8:00 AM. 7:30 AM is the last time. Yes, I know, everyone really wants to be standing on Big Daddy at sunrise in Sossusvlei...
The buffet was quite limited.
No room cleaning; if you had received a bedtime treat and a hot water bottle in your bed in Aus, you would find your room in the same state in the afternoon as you left it in the morning.
For dinner, there was a buffet, really...
Namibia can do meat, but what was served here was at best hostel level.
And after the Chinese group was done at the buffet...
Honestly, it was neither tasty nor diverse nor sufficient.
The ambiance, hmmm.
Relatively cold, with doors and windows open, the building smelled of smoke, really not good; the one fireplace had no chance.
WI-FI???? I am aware that there can be problems in the middle of the desert...
We were told that with the iPhone, it doesn't really work after the second day. Really...
Really...
The pool was okay, not very clear water but acceptable.

Good accommodation

Small cute bungalow had as accommodation , cleanliness was ok . Dining room looks like canteen , large and cold looking and kept quite dark . Food was lukewarm. Internet is only available in the main building not in the bungalow

Extremely poor service for a pricey place.

Extremely poor service for the considerable price this place charges. The staff is aloof and management had to be called to resolve the issue below. Even then, it was dismissed as “this has been put in place by the owners and we can do nothing about it”. These “self-catering” unit have some appliances but absolutely no kitchenware. No cutlery, no cups, plates, etc. You have to lend these items from the front desk and deposit a cash bond of US$100. If even one items is broken or missing, the bond is kept. The box contained dirty cups. It is unacceptable for an accommodation to punish new customers for wrongs of previous customers. Probably 100 guests for one customer who lost a single spoon. And anyways, they have your credit card and can charge any missing item to it but not 100$ for one item. Finally, as much as they explain there is no wifi in the units, for a US$200+/night lodge surely they can install a cheap wifi extender.
Don’t go there.
