A quiet place with cordial hostess and host.

Because it was so nice here, I stayed much longer than planned.
Mina is a very cordial woman who likes to talk about her garden and the dishes she makes. We once made nettle soup for the guests together.
Furthermore, there appeared to be many sacred Buddhist sites in Pharping and Dollu. And moreover, there were many hiking trails in the area.
Solid Rock was a place where I felt completely at home.

Great experience

Set in picturesque hills this place is fantastic. Simon,, mina and milan their son are such a special family that make you feel apart of the family. Loved watching mina go to garden to collect fresh herbs and spices to make the masala omelet in the morning. Food in general was great. Beautiful walks in the surrounding hills. Thank you will be back with my son to do champadevi.

Peace in the forest at the top of the valley

An amazing place up in the hills just 90 minutes drive from the centre of Kathmandu. Peaceful and quiet, with the best view of the valley - many impressive shrines and monasteries in the village below - and at the crossroad of many beautiful trails that bring you up to Champa Devi, overlooking all of Ktm and the Himalayan range, and the sacred town of Pharping in the next little valley.
Shower always hot, very fresh beds, clean room and bathroom, delicious organic food grown in the front garden (Mina makes the best pickles in the world!!) and fresh eggs from their chickens. Simon and Mina are the kindest hosts we’ve met in all of Nepal, and always there to accommodate your needs.
For a very reasonable price, the best accommodation in & around Kathmandu!

Amazing quiet place with lovely people

There are a few things I love about this place. The first one is definitely the people who run it. Even though it was busy when I arrived without booking before (a group of runners made a big reservation) they welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home. I also love how beautiful and quiet the place is, it is exactly what I needed at the end of my trip.
However, even though it is quiet there is a lot to do in the area as well! There are a lot of beautiful monastries and meditation caves and the hike over the small paths through the pine forest on the hills are beautiful too. I took it easy and mostly just sat around the lodge drinking lemon grass tea from their beautiful garden and reading my book. The food was great as well, very fresh and tasty. If I could have stayed longer I definitely would!

A peaceful spot just a short drive from Kathmandu

Solid Rock is a breath of fresh air just a short drive from the busy city. Run by lovely, unpretentious people, it’s an off-the-beaten path hidden gem. Natural surroundings, beautiful location, clean comfortable rooms and friendly hospitality make it a great go-to spot for us.
My kids love to play with the chickens and see the fruits and veggies growing in the garden. We also take walks around the nearby area and visit the monastery.
A perfect escape from Kathmandu and taste of the simpler life.
