Budget friendly hotel in Amsterdam

Hotel located in prime location. Just 5mins walk from Amsterdam central train station. Hotel is budget friendly. Helpful and kind staffs. But if you are come with kids and big luggages request rooms in 1-2 floors. Stairways are thin no lifts. There are many good restaurants available within walking distance.

Mount Everest base camp training

A stink greeted me at the reception and I got my key for room 27 . I would advise anyone going to the upper floors to hire a Sherpa guide from the Nepal / Mountain Everest region to guide you up the steep winding stairs that seem to go on for ever . Room was grotty with dirty window frames . Bed was clean and comfortable . When I checked out there was a white cat asleep on the counter . The only good thing about this place is the location . Plum in the city centre and canal area ( boat tours ) and two minute walk from the main train station

We had to leave because it was horrible.

I went with my friend, and we had to leave. If I could, I would give it a -10; the stairs are terrible, they gave us the 5th floor, and when we arrived, the terrible smell of feces greeted us as soon as we opened the door. We left because we could not stand it anymore; the floor was carpeted and dirty, and the bathroom smelled terrible. Honestly, this is not something we deserve for ourselves.
The room was for two people. Just so you know.

Great location, horrible sewage smell, scary stairs.

Great location to Central station. We chose the hotel so we could walk everywhere once we arrived and this ticked that box. So close to the red light district including restaurants, bars, coffee shops. Found a Spar in the next street for essentials and a canal trip for €15 per hour. However that's where the good part ends. VERY noisy at night - other guests arriving home through the night until 4 or 5am. . . one lady banging on our door shouting and swearing. We asked particularly for a room low down as we are asthmatic and unfit and knew there would only be stairs and were told we were later than others checking in so were given what was left - the top floor attic room up five floors despite confirming on email the day before our precise arrival time! The stairs are tight and last stair case (no photo) I had to use my hands and come down backwards it was so steep. Trying to get suitcases up and down was horrendous. The smell in the room that greeted us was putrid, like fish, eggs and sewage. Half an hour of the window open did nothing so I ventured down to reception to request a room change. Eventually was moved into a cupboard with two beds but no smell. Barely enough room to walk between beds and not full single size - more like caravan sized singles. There was a faint whiff of sewage throughout the hotel on the staircases which intensified as you got higher - obviously had a plumbing problem and not washed the carpets. This also echoed when we flushed our toilet - strange smell of egg from the sink and shower drain. Room and bathroom clean other than that, hand soap and shower gel provided and towels clean. I would not recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues and would opt to stay in a modern hotel and get the trams in which were frequent. Not the hotel's fault, all buildings are tall and narrow in Amsterdam but you will have multiple steep staircases to climb here.

Horrible.

Worst hotel in Amsterdam. Too much noise.
If you have a lot of bags, prepare to climb many steps of narrow stairs. The double bed they combine with two single beds, with this there is a hole in the middle.
