Authentic, wonderful staff and great location

When you look at the photos of the hotel it's easy to understand the worry of the hotel. And although it's not the most modern, this hotel, the owner Mario and staff are wonderful. We've been here 4 days. It's great. Authentic and very very close to everything! Honestly would absolutely stay here again. Yes it could do with a deep clean but if your just sleeping/cleaning yourself here then it's fantastic!

WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE WEVE EVER HAD

!PLEASE READ BECAUSE THIS WAS REALLY BAD!!
We had a very bad experience. When we checked in we discovered a lot of stains and dirt on the towels and the bed. So we asked for new towels but unfortunately they were not better. When we checked the pillows, they were covered with hair on and under them!! one of the pillows even had moldy stains on them. But thats not even the worst thing: We had a GIGANTIC MOLDY STAIN ON THE WALL RIGHT NEXT TO THE HEADPART OF THE BED!! When we arrived the room also smelled like cigarettes even though the hotel was labeled as “smoke-free” and we couldnt even open the window until day two because it was broken. It was really hot and we were a group of 6 people in a really really small room. The shared toilet/bathroom had POOP STAINS on the toilet paper roll. The sink also broke down on the second day which led to our shoes being soaking wet and a really bad smell. We told the employees and wanted atleast a small price reduction but they only told us to wait for the owner. We even wrote an email to the owner but there was no reaction. On the last day the daughter of the owner came and asked if everything was okay after we checked out. We told her everything and even showed her the pictures but she just denied everything!!! She just didn’t acknowledge that a mold-free and standard hygiene room is NORMAL FOR EVERY KIND OF HOTEL NO MATTER HOW MANY STARS IT HAS! We paid each around 60€ a night which is super unfair compared to what we got! Mold is super risky and dangerous healthwise and when we told her how unhappy we are she called us “SPOILED B*RATS”!Even though we handled everything calmy she didnt stay professional and told us to leave. Except the location and a nice employee who helped us with the window and sink, this was the worst hotel experience we ever had!! Dont go at any cost!

Stay of ordinary madness

Hotel that reflects the city, beautiful outside and dirty inside. Crisp sheets at the right point. The sewer smell of the shower in the room flavored the environment.

To be avoided

I should have checked reviews here before booking. I must have been lured by the central location and price but really I’d have been better off in a backpackers bunk room. This place is old and dirty. Single room was so narrow I could touch the sides without my arms extended. Taps in the bedroom basin didn’t work. Shared bathroom only a shower which was hand held. Shared toilet was cramped and dirty. There was poo on the seat and on the spare toilet roll. I avoided touching anything in here including the shared hand towel. Although a non smoking hotel I’m sure my bed smelled of stale smoke. Staff were lovely but that doesn’t make up for the dire state of this place

Charming old house, clean and friendly

Great! Very cheap despite spontaneous Booking Referral and the location is absolutely perfect. The house is old and noisy, but charming and clean. If you bring earplugs and look at the pictures beforehand, you really can't complain about this great hotel! We were greeted very friendly and there were no unexpected fees that I always expect otherwise. We had a great time and I would definitely book Hotel Tamara again when I come to Amsterdam!
