Staff should be more mindful
But I believe it’s important to note that our first night in the hostel was extremely unpleasant, me and my friend who I went with (both 19) were placed in a room with 6 men which we were totally fine to begin with, we were expecting to be allocated to a room with young people who were also travelling Europe, but none the less it was fine.
The night was filled with arguments with the men who were minimum 40+ in age. We woke up multiple times throughout the night. The most notable incident was at 4am, one of the men was visibly drunk, stood up and asked for a physical fight with one of the other guests.
There was men sleeping naked in the room, we were woken up at 6am to one of the guests aggressively moaning as if he was in pain and he was pleading with guests in the room to use their water. It was an extremely uncomfortable and frankly unsafe environment to be in.
We booked another accommodation as soon as we woke up the next morning we were too terrified to spend even another minute in the room with the men. When we said to the receptionist about the situation he was very nice about it, but when talking about it, the receptionist told us young travellers are placed in the downstairs rooms while upstairs is for older people. We asked why we weren’t placed downstairs originally and there was no clear answer for that question.
There is no complaints on the actual hostel itself, it is clean, cheap and location is good but I would really ask that the hotel staff should definitely be way more mindful!!! when allocating guests to rooms, especially when dealing with young female guests as it was a very high intense and unsafe environment we endured during our stay.
