Very nice hotel to relax in

We stopped here for a walk in Amsterdam. The hotel is in a quiet and clean location, the hotel itself is clean and tidy, the staff is very friendly and polite. The food at the Restaurant is delicious, you can have whatever you want. Pretty good numbers. Most of the rooms are accessible by stairs. Would stay here again really like this place, thank you to all the staff.

Roof over head ok, all around it unfortunately not good.

Located on a small island, which can be reached by a small ferry.
The ferry runs non-stop 24 hours.
The crossing takes only a few seconds. However, you have to note that EVERY trip costs 5,50€, then you are quickly rid of money, if you want to get back to the hotel between day trips briefly...
The hotel itself looks very well maintained, the rooms were clean and welcoming.
However, all rooms are ONLY accessible from the outside via spiral stairs, which is not necessarily suitable for hotel guests with dogs or young children.
In the bathrooms there are shampoo, shower bath in dispensers, as well as a bar of soap, towels and a small hairdryer, which you will find in a drawer.
There is also a TV, the user manual of which is listed very sporadically in 3 languages.
However, it annoyed us a lot that the TV set did not work.
In each of our booked rooms, the information on the screen:antenna cable did not come properly connected.
We checked EVERYTHING,but remote control and instructions did not help.
Also this is strange that it was in every room.
Unfortunately, even in the evening no one was available in the hotel.
Not at the front desk, nor after we rang.
That annoyed us a lot, because you would have liked to watch some TV in the evening after an adventure day in Noordwijk to relax.
So no one needs to expect service here.
So we had neither radio nor TV.
The island is small, pretty, with very narrow streets and rural.
However, for early risers no chance to get a coffee anywhere at 7.30 am.
Neither is there a bakery nearby, nor a coffee machine or a gas station whose shop is open on Sunday mornings.
In the hotel the restaurant was also still closed, so we left the island, looking for a morning coffee.
It was not nice, in other hotels at least coffee machines are available.
And not everyone is a late riser who sleeps until 12 o'clock, where one of the rare bakers finally opens...
Apart from the cleanliness of the rooms we were not exactly thrilled about everything else.
We got our dog up and down the steep spiral stairs with difficulty and distress.
With a toddler or even a stroller, it's certainly even harder.
The dog costs 10 euros extra fee, which is paid on site at the reception.
That's perfectly OK.
When checking in, they were also friendly towards us, but after that just no one was to be reached.
The windows in the rooms cannot be opened in case someone likes to sleep in fresh air..
But air conditioning is available.
Due to the stairs, the non-working TVs in both rooms and no coffee machine for early risers therefore only 2 stars

Not handicap accessible

Advertised no elevators but failed to mention only access to upper floors is up an open circular staircase on the exterior of the building. Meaning u must carry your luggage up yourself and if you have physical limitations or health issues you are on your own. Had a two night stay booked but needed to cancel reservations because of the stair situation and owner was less than sympathetic and would only refund one night fees. Would never stay or recommend this hotel again.

Nice ,but fairly average hotel

On appearance this hotel looked ideal for a couple of night stay to visit Kerkenhof, but on arrival we were advised there was no evening restaurant service as the chef was ill, but there are several good restaurants locally.
One thing to bear in mind booking here is that it seems all rooms are accessible by external spiral staircases, so someone ( myself included) will find with a suitcase these are very difficult to navigate.
Also you need to bear in mind that the hotel is on a small island and is accessible by a small ferry, the cost (2019) is just under €5, each way.
Would we stay there again, maybe,

Charming place with good service. Rooms are a bit hard to reach.

This is a classic small hotel run by friendly, helpful people in a central location and great value. Our room was on the 2nd floor which is accessed through tow sets of fairly narrow circular stairs. They will help with your luggage. Parking is limited and we had to park about 200 meters further down the road. This is not a place for mobility impaired. You reach the island by a short ferry 4,50 Euro round trip. They only charge on the way to the island.

Very good location
