Welcoming! Lovely staff and friendly staff

Simple, clean, little maintenance is necessary. Quiet, nice closed outdoor area for the dog. Very low toilet which was difficult for mother-in-law of 90, we solved this by going to toilet in the hall. Everything is there as far as the decor is concerned. This was already the fifth time we were there and certainly come more often! You can walk to Nes. Close to beach

Very good holiday address.

Neat suite: Bedroom with kitchen and dining area. Kitchen very complete. Bathroom comfortably spacious. Lots of closet space (very nice if you stay longer). Spacious balcony with comfortable seating but unfortunately no view.
Good beds.
Good bicycle parking.

Super Location and very convenient!

I can only recommend this wonderful place.
It all starts with a very warm and friendly welcoming at De Berkenhof.
The rooms / apartments are huge also the bathroom. Everything is nice and clean.
The venue is nicely located between Nes (downtown) and the beach.
Opposite you can just start hiking and you have a great selection of restaurants near by.
Just one little thing… our A/C was not working properly or was not strong enough.
We were unable to make it really work (but also our fault - we always forgot to ask at the reception.
All in all we did feel very cosy at De Berkenhof.
P.S.: please get better toilet paper - this one layer paper does not match the beautiful concept of your lovely place!

Fantastic stay, wonderful staff, good location!

Booked a three night stay in one of the three bed room apartments. Celebrated New Yeras Eve here, which was just exactly what we wanted it to be: quite and peaceful. We had a fantastic stay. Staff here are wonderful. Very hospitable and kind. Very clean rooms. Plenty of parking space for our car and e-bikes.
The apartment was very convenient, with two bedrooms on the first floor. The living room being on the ground floor. The terrace overlooks a children playground which was a great success with our little one, even though it was quite cold outside.
The Berkenhof is located very conveniently and about in the middle between all things on the island. The beach is just up the road. 't Oerd is about 8 kilometres by bike, the lighthouse around 10.
The breakfast basket is great value for money: for just €12 per person it is brought to you every morning. The bread is freshly baked and the croissants were absolutely delicious. There are games available from the hall at reception (just take them and return afterwards). You can get some snacks and drinks too, there is a money box where you pay and/or get change. It's things like these that I can really appreciate. Unfortunately, unthinkable in a big city.
All in all we had a great stay at the Berkenhof and a wonderful time in Ameland.

Daughter charged by 4 (!) aggressive Rottweilers belonging to other guest! Pet policy ridiculous!

BEWARE, this property allows guest with multiple dogs (4!) on the property, including a guest with FOUR AGGRESSIVE ROTTWEILERS!
My family and I were planning on staying at De Berkenhof 3 nights, the arrival was fine and the lady at the desk friendly. We were a little disappointed about the fact that the walls are paper thin and you are connected to the neighbors on both sides, with zero privacy (we were in the "4 persoons appartement aan de Speelweide" - 4 person apartment at the play area). Also the beds are not made, you are given a stack of sheets and have to start your vacation with making the beds (4!)... The first day was fine. Then the second day we noticed there were 'new' people in the apartment next to us, with 4 very large ROTTWEILERS. They had placed a mesh partition (2' feet high) around their patio, giving us an uneasy feeling regarding these dogs.
Then in the evening when we were coming back from a sunset bike ride, these four ROTTWEILERS started barking, growling and charging through the mesh partition in the direction of our 8 year old daughter. Thank goodness the owners of the dogs were able to grab them in time, otherwise I fear we would have been the next headline in the newspaper with dogs tearing up a child... To make matters worse, the owners then proceeded to call us names and acted aggressive towards us. Long story short: the hotel owners did nothing to accommodate our desire to be moved to a different apartment, the owner even went as far to tell us we were probably at fault for 'startling' the dogs with our bicycles?!
We called the police as we did not feel safe at all and were escorted off the property with two officers for safety and were able to stay across the street at the WestCord Hotel Noordsee, where they treated us very well, they gave us a great rate and went above and well beyond to make our stay pleasant. From now on we will stay at the WestCord!
Allowing dogs on a property is one thing, allowing 4 aggressive Rottweilers is absolutely unacceptable!! Property owner was unfriendly, unaccommodating, and aloof. (his daughter was nicer and admitted it was ridiculous these dogs were allowed to stay at their property ("I am sorry, we didn't realize they had 4 Rottweilers, we expected just one small dog"....), but she didn't offer a solution either). Avoid at all cost!
