Beautifully located, lovely hotel

The hotel is peacefully situated in the woods on a hill, ideal for hiking. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurant and very good breakfast. Nice spacious room, very spacious and good bathroom. Cozy ambiance. Perhaps only downside is the soft mattresses, but not a problem for everyone.

Location, yes. Food, no.

Nice location. Friendly service and friendly staff. Food disappointing though. Especially the main courses. Tasteless. Overcooked or not yet. The cook may ask himself how much love he/she puts in. Too bad, and unfortunately the same experience twice in a row.
Advice: go for the location. Not for dinner.

Wat jammer dat uw bezoek niet naar wens was. Wij zouden graag willen weten wanneer u bent geweest (of een reserveringsnummer) en wat u heeft gegeten dan kunnen wij iets met de informatie doen. Helaas hebben wij op de dag zelf geen opbouwende kritiek ontvangen anders hadden wij graag een passende oplossing aangeboden op het moment dat u hier nog was. Wij horen graag van u. Horeca blijft mensenwerk en een bovenstaande ervaring had makkelijk & snel opgelost kunnen worden.

Severely disappointing and unworthy of Montferland

What should have been a pleasant dinner, given our past experience, ended in total disappointment. We can only say something about the restaurant because we only went for dinner with 5 people. First of all, the manner of reception is not how you welcome someone as a guest. Not inviting and curt. Then we had four different people at the table within 5 minutes while it was not crowded. After the order was made, they forgot to bring all the bread board first. It only came after we asked for it at the amuse. Then the amuse was placed on the table without telling what it was. The main courses (Salmon + Veal Oyster) were served. The reordered fries didn't come. The salmon was way overcooked and dry, the potato bones weren't quite cooked and the fennel needed your chopping axe to cut it. The veal oyster could not get through with a knife and both dishes were stripped of any taste. The comment from the waiter we addressed about this was: "I'm not in the kitchen" which we obviously didn't settle for. In the end, several things were taken from the account but it was totally unworthy of Montferland. Neither the Chef nor the manager had the decency to come to the table. Very disappointing!

Great food in a beautiful location

The location is amazing! When you park you look over the treetops with a view that you don't see in many places in the Netherlands.
Beautifully decorated restaurant with beautifully laid tables and fine acoustics.
Small a la carte menu with the possibility for a 3/4/5 course surprise menu and a tasting that was explained by the very friendly waiter.
Remarkably large portions and deliciously tasteful food. And all for a very acceptable price.
The hotel facilities I can't judge but the restaurant is top!
