Seven Night Stay at the Thon Opera

From the moment I arrived until the moment I left the hotel, I had the most wonderful 7 night stay.
The reason for this is simple: the staff.
I need to top express my gratitude to the following members of the reception team for making my stay extra special; Leo, Nikolai, Wajid, Paulina, Allihandra and Suzanne.
I checked in very early for my stay at around 3.45 am and was assigned a superior room on the seventh floor, and was given some chocolate as a welcome gift. I was also given complimentary water and ice creams during my stay.
Please note there is no concierge, the reception staff try their best to advise you whare to go and what to see in Oslo.
My room was clean and comfortable, but not very large. I was upgraded to a business room on the 10th floor, which was more spacious and had great views of the city. This room had an electronic exterior blind to reduce glare and also provieded bath robes.
Please notre that none of the rooms have telephones, as it is expected that you use your own mobile phone should you wish to communicate with the front desk. As I never activate my phone abroad, I was quitre happy to walk down to reception or use the lift.
There are three lifts that serve the hotel but one was completely out of action for my entire stay as it is being replaced as part of the hotel's upgrade programme.
As the hotelcaters for cruise passengers, it can be become very busy at certain times of the day, as cruise guests may only stay for one night. The remaining guests are either business people or tourists.
There was a gym in the hotel, but this was also closed due to refurbishment.
The restaurant for breakfast is located on the third floor and is buffet style. The quality of both the food and drinks was excellent, and there was so much variety to cater for international visitors.
There is also an outside terrace, a restaurant on the ground floor, which extends to an outdoor space and meeting rooms.
There are only 2 suites in this hotel located on the 10th floor, which only has 10 rooms on that fllor so it is very quiet. However, there are 2 ice machines located outside 2 of the rooms on either side of the floor which are noisy, so take some good earplugs or sleep pods to drown out the noise. I belive these will be moved at a later date.
Thde only criticism apart from the ice machines, was the fact that the bathroom bin was screwed to the wall above the floor, under the sink, so it was difficult to dispose of rubbish.
The location of the hotel was excellent as it virtually connects to the railway station and is ideal for to the train to and from the airport. I coulkd also work virtually anywhere within the city. Trams and buses are also a short walk away.
I thoroughly recommend this hotel for your stay in Oslo.

Dear Andy,
Thank you so much for this wonderful review.
What stands out most is your recognition of our team, and I know Leo, Nikolai, Wajid, Paulina, Alejandra and Suzanne will be delighted to read your kind words. Creating memorable stays is what hospitality is all about, so it is incredibly rewarding to hear that they helped make your week in Oslo so special.
Thank you also for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your stay. Feedback like yours is invaluable, both for future travellers and for us as we continue developing the hotel.
It was a pleasure having you with us for seven nights, and we truly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Oslo in the future.
Warm regards,
Anna

Air con is centralised and can’t be adjusted. A bit too warm for us, so hotel provided a small 19 century desk fan that sounded like a small plane taking off when on, as an alternative to cool down?
No phone in the room, so must go to staff at the front desk, needed another pillow, so desk staff sent us back to the floor to find house keeping to get the pillow? Good room though, corner with view. Room spacious. Location is great. Front desk Staff need to smile to provide a welcoming atmosphere.

Literally across the street from the train station (which is direct from the airport!) and the Opera house! Absolutely perfect location to walk everywhere. And the (included!) breakfast might be the best we’ve had in a LONG time! Their coffee is divine!
Make sure to eat on the waterfront - so many great restaurants there!
