Nice experience.

Nice hotel, with large rooms, clean and nice. The most delicious breakfast, the first morning was Sunday, so I was a little excited to come down for breakfast on Monday morning, but they still stood and fried pancakes & made omelettes really delicious, the selection was the same, but of course less filled up.

The breakfast was good and it was a nice little restaurant. Parking isn't included so you have to spent ish 300 dkk per day in the nearest parking garage.
The bed was small in our room (nr 625) and was horribly noicy. In other rooms (nr 629) it was normal size (we had friends staying there at the same time).
The facilities are generally fine and working and the utilities in the rooms are also fine.

Great service!

The stay was really great from start to finish. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was varied and tasteful, and the staff made sure we felt well taken care of. Everything worked very well and we had a very pleasant stay.

Suite with private roof terrace – seamless luxury at Thon Hotel Ski

I stayed at Thon Hotel Ski twice in July – first alone, then with my mother – and both stays were well done from start to finish. As a Thon+ member, I chose the “experience” benefit which here means upgrading to a suite at the top of the building with a private rooftop terrace. Both times I got early check-in and late check-out, and was greeted by a personal card at the reception, fruit barrel and several bottles of ice cream. The suite has a spacious living room and separate bedroom with TV in both rooms, two bathrooms of which one with bathtub, as well as a sofa bed in the living room to which the hotel laid bed linen and save up. In the room there is a mini fridge, a kettle and a Nespresso machine; you can also order Egon food on the lower floor delivered to the door. When I traveled with my mother, we had pre-ordered prosecco, a small bottle of red wine, cheese and biscuits and strawberries – perfect ingredients for cheese and wine evening inside, and prosecco with strawberries out on the terrace in daylight in the summer heat. We also created a small “home spa”: bath bubbles from Rituals, a calm spa playlist on Spotify and a glass of prosecco with strawberries in the bathtub – just the kind of mini-luxury that makes a short stay memorable. I took warm baths several times during my stay – right after we arrived, before bedtime and after breakfast – and it made me really lower my shoulders.
The location is also ideal: the train station is just across the road and it takes about 10 minutes by train from Oslo to Ski, while Ski Storsenter is practically “in walking distance” via the hotel’s own elevator that stops on the 2nd floor of the center. We bought what we needed at Vinmonopolet and Meny at Ski Storsenter and took the same elevator right back to the room without going out – extra convenient the rainy first night.
Breakfast delivered with good selection and calm atmosphere, and staff was pleasant and welcoming. The next day I took the elevator to the bakery in the walking bridge at Ski Storsenter at the center’s opening, bought fresh croissants (pistache cream and nugatti) and had them on the terrace along with Nespresso coffee from the room. I ate dinner from Egon the first night, while we chose sushi lunch at the center when I traveled with my mother. The reception remains the same: warm, professional service, baggage storage after check-out and a Nespresso machine available. As a small souvenir I bought a Thon coffee cup at the reception (kr 50).
All in all, Thon Ski looks like a small luxury bubble in a very convenient hub: a private rooftop terrace, a suite with two bathrooms, seamless access to bakeries and shops, and super central by train. Perfect for a solo break with self-care – and just as nice for a mother/daughter weekend. I'll be back.
