If you LOVE the outdoors and are here in Norway to be part of it then don’t hesitate to book BASECAMP! You will be staying in a yurt/which is a strong tent. don’t worry you won’t be sleeping on the floor these are fancy yurts with electricity and beds 😀
Words honesty can’t describe how amazing this 3 day experience was for me and my two kids! We learned how to make a fire using products found in nature, we harvested mussels from the fjord and cooked them over an open flame, we hiked, kayaked, swam, ate plants, made friends.....it was terrific!
A few things to be clear on....base camp provides a pancake breakfast then you are on your own for other meals. You can rent a “kit” to cook your lunch and dinner but you have to bring in the food...or you can drive 15 minutes back to Ulvik and go to a restaurant.
There is a common, clean bathroom with showers and laundry away from your yurt....not attached.
Dress warm the weather varies dramatically over the course of a day/rain gear is a must.
You will love this once in a lifetime Norway experience!

Wow wow wow! Don’t hesitate if....
This is about as close to nature in Norway as you’re going to get short of sleeping on the cold hard ground
Why do that when you can stay in terrific warm yurt!
This place seemingly is in the middle of nowhere at the end of a fjord but close to it all!
They provide you breakfast a cozy bed and a warm shower, even a place to do laundry!
What they don’t make are your lunch and dinner you get to cook those over an open flame just outside your yurt! Don’t worry if you don’t have cooking equipment you can rent it from them you’ll just have to come with some food from the grocery store in Ulvik.
This is somewhat of a “glamping” experience. It is not to be missed. The staff is terrific you can learn to start a fire simply with things found in nature, you can go on a walking tour and learn about insects you can eat, you can learn every detail of the history of that area of Norway and even the geology too!
