Malapascua, Hippocampus Beach Resort, we are thrilled
We travel a lot around the world and usually only have good experiences.
This resort has managed to put one more on top.
The whole team is so incredibly nice and friendly. Indescribable! On a scale of 1-10 a smooth 15.
Many certainly do not notice this at all, as most always stay only 2-3 days and then move on.
But we consciously always stay in one place for 2-3 weeks and get to know the people around us.
Of course you don't have luxury here, but we don't want that either.
The rooms are great, our balcony overlooking the sea of madness and the food excellent. We almost had to force ourselves to eat somewhere else.
We are happy to recommend the hippocampus and hope that we will be washed up again here.
This resort has managed to put one more on top.

Magic
We stayed in a room overlooking the beach and we had a small terrace just outside the room. Really nice to be able to sit there and drink a coffee in the morning.
The rooms are clean and fresh.
There is soap and shampoo in the room, safety box, ac, fridge and you can borrow beach rowel and hairdryer.
It is not possible to pay by card but it is possible to set up what you eat / drink in your room and pay on departure.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
One of the things we appreciated most about the accommodation is their friendliness to dogs. The woman who owns the resort has a dogshelter on the other side of the island. She puts ten straydogs in the hotel she takes care of. Really nice to have all these dogs around the resort.
We will definitely return to Hippocampus when we go to Malapascua next time.

My beautiful holiday
I loved hippo campus and the very helpful staff there , even though I booked on the day the owner found me a room and then found me a room for the next four days as they we’re fully booked so I had to change rooms a couple of times which was cool , it’s in a fantastic spot right on the beach with good music and great food :) thanks for everything Edwin , Hayden

Good service but basic rooms
Upon checking in to the hotel I was greeted by friendly staff and a welcome drink (iced tea) I was given my room key and shown to my room. (Room 6)
The rooms were very basic but fairly spacious, consisting of two single beds, the rooms had box style ac which worked well. The downsides of the room were no fridge, electric style hot water which had relatively low water pressure (although water was adequately hot) there was no Tv, and the bathrooms were just a tad on the small side in general.
When it came time to sleep it was cool in my room with the AC on but humid in my room with the AC off. The beds have only a sheet on them and no blankets. I enquired and was told I had blanket, and then I said I had a sheet and no blanket and they said yes a thin blanket. Almost like they had no idea what a real blanket or quilt actually was.. i was told they don’t use proper blankets at this hotel. This was a bit of a deal breaker for me.
I also dived with devocean dive centre which is a part of this hotel.
All in all the staff were friendly and helpful, the dive centre was professional. But the rooms could use a few more features. In my opinion if they threw a quilt, tv and fridge in there they would be decent rooms. (As there isn’t much to do on the island when not diving)
Also worth noting is the walkways to and from the rooms were sand so your rooms gets covered in it, a broom would be handy. (All rooms on malapascua likely have the same problem so don’t hold that against them)

Very good Location at the Beach and direct located with the dive center
We also stayed at the Hippocampus Beach Resort on the same grounds, so we had super short distances. I can recommend anyone who comes to Malapascua for diving to go diving at Devoean, if I come to Malapascua again there is no question where I stay and where I dive. For me a straight 10, thank you very much.
I was delighted with the service and support provided by Devocean dive center. As a diving instructor, I've traveled a lot around the world and have experienced several diving centers. This is by far one of the best. From the welcome, the organization of the dives, the teams on the boats, the passion of the divemasters to show the diversity and beauty of the region, to the organization of the departure.
