A good escapes from the city life

We had a great stay - the restaurant's food was delicious and very affordable, which made our visit even better. 2 important things to consider; first, traffic noise from the main road can sometimes be heard in the guest rooms, especially in the early morning. Second, regarding the safety of the new Hotel Bijoux, the management should be more vigilant by either providing security personnel or atleast giving guests a key for the main gate. While these issues did not ruin our trip, adding some soundproofing and improving security would definitely enhance the experience.

Bijoux Hotel was great!

We had a wonderful family reunion at the Bowbowan beach resort just a short ferry ride from the Bijoux Hotel. The rooms were immaculate and then We had 21 people return front the island very hungry. An employee near JM really stepped up his game and reserved tables for 21 people in less than an hour. Dinner was great. JM then organized the breakfast for the next day, he also grabbed bottled water for us and did whatever we needed. He is an exemplary worker who deserved a raise and a promotions. Great job JM!!

A VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY

I am very disappointed and unsatisfied with our stay. I was the one who recommended and booked this hotel package for my friends, and I ended up feeling embarrassed because of the experience we had.
From the beginning, service was already lacking. We had just traveled a long distance through motorcyle riding, so we were already very tired upon arrival. Despite this, no one offered even basic hospitality such as a glass of water, nor did anyone assist us with our bags or offer to help us sit while waiting for check-in. Basic courtesy and attentiveness were clearly missing.
Check-in also took quite a while, and there was no proper orientation or guidance given. When we reached the room, there was no information provided about Wi-Fi, so we had to go back to the front desk just to ask for the password. Surprisingly, there was also no telephone in the room, making it impossible to contact the front desk directly. There was also no TV. For a paid package, these basic amenities were unexpectedly missing.
What makes this even more disappointing is that since our package arrangement was different from the standard itinerary. Less than a month before our arrival, I already informed the hotel that we would be traveling on the check-in day and would instead take the Bawbawon Island tour the following day. Our island tour was scheduled from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, which clearly overlaps with the standard checkout time.
Despite knowing our arrangement, no staff member reminded us about checkout procedures, asked how we wanted our belongings handled, or advised us on what would happen if we were still on the island during checkout time. A simple reminder or discussion beforehand could have prevented the entire situation.
What made the experience worse was how our belongings were handled. Our things were removed from the room without our presence or permission and placed outside the room. When we returned from our island tour, it felt like we were passengers at an airport with excess baggage—our bags and personal items were scattered on the floor. It was messy, disorganized, and extremely embarrassing! We did not feel like paying guests. We paid for this package, so we expected proper service and professionalism.
Even more serious, one of my friends discovered that the pair of her of gold earrings went missing after this incident. While we understand guests also have responsibility for their belongings, removing and handling guests’ items without their presence creates situations like this that could have been avoided.
This leads to a very important question: who will take responsibility for a valuable item that was lost under these circumstances, especially one that also holds deep personal and sentimental value to my friend?
The main issue here is a clear lack of anticipation of guests’ needs and possible situations. There was no initiative from the staff, and communication was very poor.
This reflects a need for proper training and reorientation of staff in basic hospitality standards—especially in communication, guest handling, and anticipating guest needs. These are fundamental in the hospitality industry but were clearly lacking in our experience.
Because of what happened, I honestly feel disappointed and even embarrassed. I am now reconsidering my plans of booking the same package again with my family, as I would not want them to experience the same situation we went through.

Great Ambiance, Questionable Experience

JM and the rest of the staff is awesome. the hotel gives off a European vibes, although a very disappointing and unsafe experience. We checked in at this hotel for Bawbawan Island tour. Theres NO secure parking, guests are either park along the highway or at the back, and very unsafe with so many bystanders. The area where the hotel is located is known to be unsafe.
Since the hotel offers an island day tour, we we decided to park at a barangay-owned lot. We even paid locals to watch our vehicles, yet two of our cars were still vandalized. Clearly, this setup offers zero real security.
We reported the incident to the barangay captain. apparently he is clueless and stupid barangay official and NO action was taken. We left with no resolution.
The hotel should stop directing guests to this arrangement if they cannot ensure safety.
