a gem in La Digue

The apartments at Chloe Cottage, immersed in the greenery of La Digue, are truly delightful.
The outdoor terrace has a table where you can eat and where breakfast is served, as well as 2 super comfortable armchairs and all the space to lay things out to dry.
The kitchen is equipped with everything including a Nespresso coffee machine, an added value!
The room is comfortable, with double pillows and really comfortable bed.
The very large bathroom with shower Top.
The apartment is refreshed daily, and towels changed every 2 days.
They recovered us at the port (the transfer costs 15 euros one way for 3 people) with their "Taxi" in a timely manner. The cost of renting the bikes is 8.5 euros per day, and the bikes are super functional (they have worked hard to find the most suitable ones for each of us).
For one day we asked to be able to use an electric bike, and promptly the owners got it for us (cost 30 euros per day).
The delicious breakfast, with fresh fruit, bread butter and jam, eggs and pancakes, or crepes, or cheese, plus a really genuine fresh whip juice,
Nearby there are several supermarkets and takeaways: to remember, however, that almost everywhere in the Seychelles at 8pm they close!
The location is in my opinion perfect, a little secluded from the port area of La Passe, which is still accessible by bike although with a ride of over 20 minutes, but close instead to the main beaches (Anse source d'Argent and Grand Anse in particular)
Check out is at 10am, but we could stay at the beach until the last and then use their shower and their shared bathroom before leaving.
The owners are really nice: one night we had booked in the pizzeria, but it started to rain just as we were leaving by bike; the owner accompanied us and came to pick us up at the restaurant with extreme availability.
The humidity of the island being immersed in a forest does not make the clothes dry out.
A laundry service, even shared between the various apartments would make it further perfect.

Worst Seychelles has to offer

Our experience sadly doesn’t match that of others. I'm not one to expect anything for free or for a deals or offers. Not my thing. I pay in full, in advance for everything requested; I like supporting hard-working entrepreneurs. The issue is that the quality of service didn’t meet even basic expectations, like running water - this felt like I was swindled at a tourist trap.
MAJOR — Water (undisclosed outages; no backup):
No running water for most of both days. This was not disclosed at booking or check-in. We discovered it only after using the toilet and were told to use jerrycans; no one checked back or brought more. My 70-year-old parents lifted heavy jerrycans; our 9-year-old rinsed off beach sand with cold jerrycan water. In a self-catering unit, no water = no cooking, no dishes, no hygiene, so we had to rely on their breakfast. Many properties on the island have a tank + pump—this one didn’t. No apology was offered. I did not request any refund or rate adjustment for this basic failure. All I expected was a verbal acknowledgement of our inconvenience. None was given.
MAJOR — Bike rental (safety & opaque pricing):
We rented 1 tandem, 2 adult bikes, and 1 child bike. All were rusty and poorly maintained: worn pads/ineffective brakes, non-functional gears, and under-inflated tyres. I paid out of pocket to get them to a minimal standard. When I raised this, management scolded a worker in front of us instead of accepting responsibility. Elsewhere on the island we saw newer, cleaner bikes at clearly posted local rates. Be careful renting bikes here—riding downhill without working brakes risks serious injury. It’s not a pricing issue; it’s a serious quality of bikes issue. Charge more if you must, but at least maintain the bikes, we'll happily pay.
MINOR — Room downgrade & A/C:
We booked a Family Room (two rooms; one with a twin bed). We received a single bed in the living room next to the kitchen without A/C. This was very inconvenient. No consent was sought for this switch, and no acknowledgement of the downgrade - ask your customers first if this is what they desire.
MINOR — Breakfast (inclusion & quality):
Breakfast was included via my Booking “Genius” level, but a system quirk removed it for one room. We were then asked to pay for two people despite the downgrade; we paid without haggling. The breakfast was bare-bones: a few fruits, one juice, bread, two eggs, and no coffee—and with no water and no stores nearby, we had little choice but to rely on it. There’s room for improvement here. Offer local creole breakfast and delicacies. Again, charge more if you must but make it worth remembering.
Transport & location (practical constraints):
You’re dependent on them for buggy transport, which is SCR 200–250 one way. There are no convenience stores, no restaurants, and no independent bike rentals nearby, so you’ll either pay for buggy transfers or accept the on-site options. The property is far from the jetty and inconvenient without reliable transport. In hindsight, it’s better to stay on the main road near the jetty, which is roughly equidistant from most points on the island. Choose a property with water stored in tanks with a pump during serious droughts.
Accountability:
Undisclosed water outages with no contingency and unsafe, ill-maintained bikes defined our stay; the downgrade and minimal breakfast compounded it. Add costly, captive transport and no nearby amenities, and the value proposition collapses. I paid in full and expected basic reliability.
To management: guests aren’t here to haggle; their on their dream vacation. To make myself clear, absolutely no monetary compensation was ever sought for. We didn't even complain until you haggled and nickel and dimed us at the end of the trip. That felt sad. Please acknowledge the shortcomings and offer a clear apology. Commit to installing a tank + pump, disclosing outages, servicing/replacing bikes, honouring posted prices, and fixing root causes respectfully.

A green paradise

This accommodation is perfect for individual travelers. The location was suitable for us because all the beautiful beaches were easy to reach by bike. It's very quiet here. Great for self-catering. Breakfast is included and was great every day. Our wishes were gladly fulfilled. Gladis, the owner, is very friendly, gracious and empathetic.. The staff are also friendly and pleasant. We felt completely comfortable and can recommend the place to anyone.
