The guy who took my call was so kind and respectful.
I feel that the least I can do is leave a review appreciating the treatment I received from Abel, you are an excellent worker, polite and empathetic.

terrible experience

Very bad cleaning, almost non-existent. Grumpy and rude staff. Presence of hair, hair and nails of strangers and blood stains on the sheets. Not recommended. The only positive note is the proximity to the center and the sea. However, the area is not as quiet as some of the hostel guests who used to take drugs and walk around half naked in the corridors.

For 1-2 nights

We have a clean room, with comfortable beds, and WIFI. In the room there was a bathroom not very big but also clean. Unfortunately our room was close to laundry. it is ok for one, max two nights stay.

Clean, adequate budget hotel

Hostal Maribel is not fancy, but if you're after a cheap, clean place to stay then this fits the bill. The hostal is on the main street of Almeria and is about 20 minutes walk from the beachfront and the bus station. Check-in was fairly straightforward, though I wasn't told on arrival that they hasn't automatically debited my card for the booking, so I nearly checked out without paying.
I had a room with a double bed, desk, wardrobe, TV and private ensuite bathroom with toilet and half-tub. All the facilities were fairly new, clean and in good repair. The room was on the small side, but that was fine for me travelling alone. There was a mention of breakfast somewhere, but nothing was said on check-in so I provided my own food. I also didn't find any communal areas except a few armchairs on the landing of the stairs, which is a negative for me (however I usually stay in youth hostels, so that's what I'm used to).
In short, as other reviewers have said, if you want a clean, basic, cheap hotel, then Hostal Maribel is for you.

Good value for money

Clean rooms and free wifi. The rooms are smallish and you will hear the neighbours if they decide to watch tv. There is a coffee/tea vending machine in the corridor and a few bars just around the corner. 15 minutes walk from there you will find loads of bars and restaurants, which is where I will stay next time I go to Almeria. Not because there was something wrong with the hotel, but just for the convenience.
