Pro and cons of our experience

We went for a 4 night stay as we found a last minute deal on Jet2.
Here is my honest review. Me and my partner are not usually fussy, we don't expect 5 star in a 3 star hotel.
I want to start with the cons so I can end on the positives!
Cons:
- personally, I wouldn't go back to calella. Barely anything to do in the area. All the shops were exactly the same and almost like our version of pound shops. People had left rubbish and cigarette buts across the beach.
- The hotel was packed with young people who had come for trips or football coaching. They were left unattended and were really rude at mealtimes. Pushing in the line at mealtimes, shouting from their balconies etc. There is an all inclusive self serve bar that requires you to scan for the drink machines to work, they were waiting at the side for people to scan and then pushing in to fill their cups.
I work with children and young people so they generally don't bother me, but it's the rudeness and running around the hotel with no adult supervision which was annoying.
- the food was not the best but I guess we didn't pay for 5 star quality. We found something to eat everyday but there was no flavour to the food. Mainly stuck to chips and pasta and I'm not usually a fussy eater.
- the bed was the worse I've ever slept in at a hotel. It was incredibly hard! Woke up throughout the night with a sore back, neck and legs. Pillows were very uncomfortable too.
- air con is a vent which didn't cool us down at all. You also can't have the balcony door open as it turns off the aircon vent.
- if you have mobility issues then the pools are quite inaccessible. The large pool area has 3 flights of stairs in total with no lift to get into.
The resteraunt is accessible when in the large area but you have to go up the large flights of steps and walk through the hotel and down the steps to access it.
They should have a system for disabled people and people with prams to be able to access the resteraunt for lunch when at the downstairs pool as there would be zero steps
The two smaller pools have 2 smaller flights of stairs to access them
- the walls in the room are very very paper thin, you can hear everything next door does
- there's 3 lifts in total but they are very outdated and not enough room in them. You could be waited ages for the lift because it can't fit many in them.
- in the resteraunt, sometimes we were walking around for a while to find somewhere to sit. However, we did quickly learn the better times to go and found a seat instantly
PROs:
- the hotel was clean and the staff were friendly
-the hotel is in a good location for access to the beach, McDonald's, burger King, supermarket next door and bars and resteraunts.
Took about 10mins to walk to the beach but its a flat walk
- hotel room was clean and included towels, soap, plenty of loo roll, shampoo/conditioner/body wash
- shower was decent
- always something to eat and the food was regularly stocked. Fresh salad bar daily.
The show cooking was good with fresh chicken and fish cooked (on separate grills)
- there was always something even if you prefer beige food
- dessert selection was alright. Ice cream pots, the cheesecakes in a glass cup were delicious, fresh fruit, yoghurt and small selection of cake
- didn't eat the cooked breakfast as it looked unseasoned and bland. However, the pastries were lovely, eggy bread from the show cooking was incredible! The hot chocolate was delicious
- even though the hotel seemed to cater to school children on trips, it seemed they were given rooms together on the same floor.
I was on floor 6 and it was pretty quiet at night. We are never too fussed hearing bits of noise outside. Overall, didn't bother us to much about walls being paper thin because we had decent neighbours. Don't think I would of been happy next to the kids who didn't seem to sleep!
- the large pool area was lovely. Spent our days just chilling here as it had a bar right next to us. Bar staff were lovely.
The maintence guy really looked after the pool areas, they were cleaned daily to a high standard
- LOVE THAT THEY DONT OPEN POOL AREAS UNTIL 10AM!!! our fave thing about the hotel and something all hotels should do. It meant we could have a lie in and enjoy breakfast without feeling the need to rush for a sun lounger. It stops that 5am reservation
- the pool areas were quiet and we never struggled to get a sunlounger. The kids must of been out during the day and when they did use the pool they were just having fun jumping in the pool and left after a short period of time
- all inclusive drink options were very good and you got a discount if you wanted branded drinks (included pics of the menu)
- all inclusive included free ice pops
- the room had a decent sized TV, all channels in Spanish
- balcony was a decent size for 2 of us
- I really liked the all inclusive drink system. You got a card each which you would use for a drink of your choice. They would take the card and when you brought your cup back up to the bar they would either make you another drink or you can have you cards back to use later on. This kept the bar and pool area nice and tidy and stops people just getting loads of drinks at once
-plenty of places to sit and have a drink in the evening in the hotel and they played the football on the TV
- there's pool tables in the bar and they had evening entertainment
Overall, I wouldn't go back but that's mainly because of the area and lack of things to do in the evening.
Overall, the hotel was alright and definatley worth the money we paid.
Wouldn't go for longer than 4 nights but enjoyed chilling by the pool!

A decent threesome in the hotel area of the city of Kaleija.

Convenient location (8 minutes to the beach), large supermarket under the hotel. We had a room with a mountain view. The room is small and there is a balcony with table and chairs. Cleaning and changing towels every day. The staff is quick, friendly. Furniture is not new, but acceptable. No fridge. There's air conditioning. The walls are cardboard. You can hear everything, like they're talking in your room. It would be a huge downside if you get noisy neighbors. There's plenty of food in the restaurant and it's delicious. Coffee's decent. For dinner/lunch there is a graphine of wine for an adult. Pizza, fish, steaks every day. Pools three. Everything is clean and neat.

Not Great

I took my daughter on a 4 day trip. Rooms was basic and thats ok no problem with that. Problem is when someone next door is in their bathroom u would think they were in your bathroom. The walls must be made of paper. Its awful. Someone then tried to come in our door on the first night scaring the life out of us. I tried to use the phone to call reception and the phone didnt work. Then I noticed the fire alarm was covered with a sock. I googled their number and could not get through at all. I went down to reception. They said they would send up security. I said its too late they are away. I said the phone wasn't working. They gave me a number to ring reception on my mobile. I asked for the sock to be removed from the smoke alarm. They said tomorrow. I was upset I wanted it uncovered immediately. I was just recovering from a broken foot and ankle. I had to stand on the bed and use a coat hanger to hit off the sock. The next day i went and bought 6 door stops to try stop anyone from coming in my room. We felt vulnerable and unsafe. Cleaning was not great. They made the bed that was it. They left me no fresh towels on day 2. The all inclusive can be frustrating. We were supposed to be offered snacks. We never got any the whole trip. The only ice lolly's for AL is an ice pop. U can have the choice of 1 beer and spirts and the cheap version of sprite coke and orange. You can't even get a pint of beer. Its a small glass u have to run back and forth with. The food was ok. Always found something but it wasn't great. The super market is right next door and Calella its self is a lovely little town. The entertainment was the same disco on fri sat and Sunday. Same routine. When checking out not as much as a "thank you" or "hope you enjoyed your stay" nothing. Staff was not rude but didnt find them helpful. I wouldn't recommend this as a family hotel. There is definitely better places out their. Better food and drinks, entertainment and most of all better safety in rooms.

Can be a good experience but not!!

We were expecting a family vacation at a hotel that—despite being a 3-star property—was supposed to be a good one. That was not the case! Unfortunately, the hotel had only been partially renovated; while the reception area gave a modern impression, the rooms were completely outdated, featuring closets without doors, broken air conditioning, and other issues.
Furthermore, we requested repairs for the air conditioner twice, as it wasn't cooling at all; when opening the room door, the air in the hallway felt cooler than the air inside the room. We waited three days for a maintenance person who never showed up, and the hotel simply provided a portable air conditioner to address the issue. The problem was that, besides this unit also being broken, it required the window to be left open, allowing all the noise from the main street to pour in throughout the night.

Another issue is that this hotel accepts school groups during a period that is in high demand among families. Between the noise, mess, and shouting, and a completely overcrowded and dirty pool, it is impossible for other guests to enjoy the hotel as usual.
It is also worth noting that there are only two elevators—one large and one small—and they are insufficient; wait times are very long. Finally, it is important to mention the positives: the daily entertainment, the area for children, and the tasty food all enhance the experience.
