Sea Views, Sunbeds & Selective Service
We stayed at the Estival Centurion as a family for a special holiday celebrating my dad’s 60th birthday. Sadly, although we had a great family holiday overall, our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing and we would not return.
On the positive side, the rooms were clean and the housekeeping team were brilliant. The breakfast buffet also offered a wide selection of food, including enough dairy-free alternatives for my son, who has allergies. The pool area was very clean, and the pool toilets were cleaned regularly, which was appreciated.
Unfortunately, the positives were completely overshadowed by the attitude and service from a number of staff members. We found the service incredibly rude and unwelcoming. We made genuine attempts to converse in Spanish, but these attempts were met with derision and arrogance rather than encouragement. One waitress in particular, who is heavily tattooed, was exceptionally rude and arrogant and treated us as though we were a complete inconvenience.
The only member of staff who consistently smiled and made us feel welcome was an older gentleman on the front desk, whom we spoke to when asking about the dinner service.
The pool rules also appeared completely disjointed and inconsistently enforced. It seemed that if your face fitted, you could behave however you liked. We experienced this particularly with the sunbeds. On one occasion, we arrived at around 9:45am and put towels on a sunbed in the shade for my sister’s young baby. Only our towels were given an arrival-time sticker, despite other sunbeds having clearly been reserved much earlier, at around 8:30am, with no stickers at all.
The only obvious difference between us and those other guests was our nationality. Sadly, exactly the same thing happened again on another day to another family, who were also British. At that point, it was very difficult not to conclude that British guests were being treated differently.
We also found the bar service extremely uncomfortable. We had to repeatedly go to the bar ourselves to get drinks, while other guests were receiving table service — and, notably, with smiles and much friendlier treatment.
Our supposed sea-view room was another disappointment. We specifically requested and paid extra for a sea view. Yes, technically we could see the sea, but only if we leaned over the balcony at a dangerous angle. We never used the balcony because the street below was absolutely revolting and constantly smelled of a mixture of rotten seafood and sewage.
It is a huge shame because we genuinely had a great family holiday despite the hotel, and this trip was particularly special as we were celebrating my dad’s 60th birthday. The hotel unfortunately left a very sour impression on what should have been a memorable celebration.
I have contacted TUI to make them aware of our experience and suggested that they seriously reconsider having this hotel on their programme, as there appears to be a significant issue with the way British guests are treated.
Overall, while the cleanliness of the hotel, housekeeping and breakfast were good, the consistently rude and unwelcoming service completely ruined our experience. We felt extremely unwelcome throughout our stay.
I would never stay at the Estival Centurion again and, based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel or the surrounding area to anyone.

At our hotel, where people from all over the world work and stay, we strongly condemn racism and any form of discrimination or hate based on origin, religion or gender. We are therefore particularly surprised by allegations of this nature, of which we were unaware during your stay and which we cannot accept as there is no evidence that they took place.
Nor did you report any complaints regarding the rooms, either directly to the hotel or to your TUI representative.
Furthermore, we regret not having been able to wish your father a happy birthday, although your stay took place four months after that occasion and, moreover, we received no information on the matter during your stay – again, not even via your TUI agency.
We fully understand that our hotel may not be to your liking; every guest and every customer has their own tastes and expectations. What we do deeply regret, however, are the allegations which we consider to be unfounded and unfair towards our establishment and our team.

Simply the best hotel in Europe
The absolute best hotel we have stayed in abroad and our best family holiday in years.
The Estival Centurion was simply incredible in every way, from the moment we walked in. All of the front desk staff were lovely, friendly and helpful whenever asked and had a fantastic grasp of English, which was even more helpful given how bad our Spanish was.
The restaurant staff were incredibly attentive - running around, collecting plates and re-stocking the buffet constantly. We're vegetarian and previously have been made to feel like we're the problem by other hotels in Spain - here, the second we stepped into the restaurant for the first time, the manager Ismael (who was so lovely throughout our stay) introduced us to the chef and said we could ask him for anything we wanted if we struggled to find stuff on the buffet. Both Pedro's and Charlie accommodated additional food for us on many occasions which was always absolutely delicious. The cocktails in the bar were a great way to end the day too - between us, I think we made our way through the menu. And they were great alongside a varied entertainment program throughout the week - something for everyone at least once from music, to acrobats, to quizzes.
The real stars of the show thought were the cleaners. This is by far the cleanest hotel we have EVER stayed in anywhere. They were relentless, constantly mopping floors, cleaning the bathrooms and wiping tables down.
We absolutely cannot wait to return to this gem of a hotel.

Recent visit
We had another enjoyable stay and have now stayed at the hotel three times in the last year. The location by the seafront is excellent, and we’ve always enjoyed the food when staying half board. On this occasion, the food in the main restaurant was lovely, as it has been on our previous visits.
Unfortunately, the rooms are now desperately in need of updating. They feel tired and dated and, in my opinion, no longer reflect the standard of the hotel as a whole. This was particularly disappointing given how much we otherwise enjoy staying here.
We were also disappointed with the food at the snack bar on this visit, which was poor compared with our previous experiences.
Would I stay again? Sadly, not until the rooms have been renovated. It’s a real shame, as we have enjoyed coming here and have stayed three times in the past year, but for our next visit we will unfortunately be looking elsewhere.

Clean Hotel, Excellent Food, Family Friendly with Some Important Considerations
We recently stayed at ESTIVAL Hotel Centurion as a family and, overall, we had a pleasant experience. The hotel was very clean, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the food was excellent with a good variety throughout our stay. The location is also very convenient, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.
I would especially like to thank Ingrid at the reception. She was professional, welcoming, and helpful both during our check-in and at check-out. I also appreciate David, who handled one of my questions professionally and took the time to understand my concern before responding.
However, there are a few things that I believe future families should be aware of. The hotel has a policy prohibiting inflatable flotation rings in the swimming pool. My children (ages 9 and 11), who are not confident swimmers, were not allowed to use them even under my direct supervision. This policy came as a surprise, so I recommend that families check the pool rules before arriving if their children rely on flotation aids.
I was also surprised that the complimentary in-room coffee was provided only on arrival. Any additional coffee sachets were charged separately. In my experience, many four-star hotels replenish coffee or tea daily as part of housekeeping, so this was unexpected.
Finally, while most staff members were courteous, I had one interaction at reception that I felt could have been handled in a more professional and respectful manner when I was simply asking for clarification about the parking policy. I shared my feedback with hotel management during my stay, although I did not receive a response before my departure.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and the hotel’s cleanliness, food quality, and pleasant atmosphere are definite strengths. With some improvements in communication and guest service, particularly regarding the pool policy and consistency in customer care, I believe the overall guest experience could be even better.
