When the bubble bursts

Putting a price is setting a quality threshold, just as those who are going to make a tasting menu do not expect to find the macaroons from a roadside bar. For 300 euros a night, there will be aspects that consumers will not admit.
The arrival at the bubble is very nice: a country estate, olive trees, a friendly and attentive Marc, and the sun falling. The pool, all for us, and a very special sense of privacy (it is Wednesday and there are no more reservations).
The problem begins to be sensed, little by little. A cheap welcome cava, a hot tub that takes a long time to fill. A very small bathrobe (we are two adults) and with a hole. When the bathtub is finally full, when the whirlpool is turned on, the water comes out with a terrible smell, of rotten eggs, which we can not get off until we empty the bathtub and shower twice. We write to the property: “Hola Marc. We filled the Jacuzzi and when I turned it on and the water started coming out, it smelled a lot like rotten egg. Not exactly what I expected. We’ve had a shower and we won’t be using it anymore, I’m telling you that for your consideration.”
300 euros is a price that makes you think the evening will be perfect, the price you pay to make sure that anniversary gift will be the right one. And, above all, 300 euros makes you expect customer service to be up to scratch. Marc replies that they will come to fix it in five minutes, and a woman with a bottle of bleach appears to tell us that this has never happened before, that the water must have rotted from the heat and that they are not gods. That if we let her in, everything will be fixed with a good jet of bleach. We say we don't have to, we won't use the bathtub anymore and we didn't expect that. She insists, “we are not gods,” repeats it three times in total. Let the water rot, let the bathrobe come straight from the laundry.
Perhaps it wasn’t the solution we had hoped for, but what surely wasn’t right was attitude. We ourselves manage a rural accommodation. At the slightest problem (much milder than these), we worry, respond assertively and carry a detail. If at any time the situation becomes complicated, we opt for compensation, understanding the customer at all times.
The final outcome — foreseeable — is a dinner that is embarrassing (I repeat: for 300 euros). Rigatoni stuck as if boiled by a student at his first meal alone, a Bolognese sauce consisting of bolognese and Solis tomato sauce on top, a watered pumpkin cream and meat with a cut of mashed potato. Hint: when the mashed potato can be cut, it is anything but creamy. For dessert, a cheesecake in a glass — frozen and cut — and a chocolate substitute mousse sphere.
To finish the night, a shattered telescope, which (a bit like everything) in the photo looks great but the reality is very far away.
I only write reviews when the surprise is very pleasant or when I have felt cheated, hoping that — deep down — whoever thinks they are right understands that they are far from being a god — obviously — and also the 300 euros they charge.
