Exceptional value for money. I recommend it.

Humble hotel, but the value for money is absolutely exceptional. The room is a very good size and is in a spectacular location. The staff is lovely, and if I had to say something a bit more negative, the breakfast is a bit poor, although it is true that it is very cheap.

A nightmare night without being able to sleep or rest

They gave us a room with some neighbors who did not stop arguing screaming all night and with the TV set very high until 6 in the morning. We couldn’t sleep all night and couldn’t even complain at reception because no one is left there until 7am in the morning that I already went down in my pajamas to complain. We almost called the police because the situation was untenable. It seems that these people have lived there for months and the hotel knows that they have such inappropriate behavior and still gave us that next room. In compensation, we were only discounted 20€ from breakfast, when they should have refunded the entire price because we could not rest or sleep all night!! It was a nightmare!!

Disappointing start to our Camino

We stayed at Hotel Alda El Suizo in Ferrol for one night before beginning our pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The hotel itself was adequate — a basic, clean room as expected for the price. The safe didn’t work, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Unfortunately, we had a poor night’s sleep. With no air conditioning, we had to leave the Juliet balcony doors open, which meant we were kept awake by people partying outside until well past 4:30am.
Breakfast was very basic, and while the location of the hotel is great, our experience was overshadowed by the receptionist. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel unwelcome. As we didn’t fancy anything from the breakfast selection, we just had a cuppa and made a sandwich to take with us for the journey — at which point he came in and reprimanded us. It felt very mean-spirited and unnecessary.
We also had to ask him for our pilgrim stamp, which he gave reluctantly — and with the wrong date. Thankfully, we noticed and got a correct stamp at a more welcoming stop along the way.
All in all, a disappointing experience, especially at such an important starting point for the Camino.
