Fantastic holiday, great facilities!
I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews on here, but I needn’t have been, we had a fantastic time, it’s a superb hotel.
Positives:
- the pool area is perfect, huge pool, no sun bed wars (people do queue to get in at 9 but we found there was no need and strolled in at 9.05 and always found good seats), lifeguards are very attentive, water slides are excellent.
- the food was very very good! Delicious salads, beautifully roasted meat, themed nights, hot puddings as well as cold, chocolate fountain, sangria, beer, wine…. I honestly do not know how some people moan about the food. There was everything you could want. The staff work so hard in there, keeping it all tidy and turning tables around quickly. The snack bar is also very good, I would have coffee and cake in the afternoons, and the kids would grab a kebab, and it’s also a lovely place to get out of the sun and into the air con for a drink.
- rooms were huge, with lovely balconies and a great view. Air con was very efficient and very welcome. Rooms were cleaned every day, and the mini bar restocked. Powerful hairdryer, really appreciated this.
- loved the Ultra AI. We went to Terra Natura (€13 in a cab), the medieval show (used the transport provided by the hotel) and used the games room a few times. We definitely got our moneys worth just doing these 3 things.
- the location is ideal, just a 10 min walk to a beautiful beach and lots of shops/restaurants around. We took a trip to Guadalest which was absolutely beautiful, would highly recommend.
Things that could be improved:
- the lifts were not as bad as some people make out but they were frustrating, particularly in Tower 1 where we were.
- there need to be more parasols around the pool
- the bathrooms could do with upgrading
But we had a amazing holiday, thanks so much! Highly recommend.

Great place for the kids, would reccomend
We’ve just got back from a week at Magic Tropical Splash, and before we travelled we worried after reading so many negative reviews. I’m glad we went anyway, because we had a really good holiday! ☀️️
We flew with Jet2, who were excellent as always, and the transfer was really quick – we were the first hotel drop-off, which was a great start.
Check-in wasn’t ideal as we had around a 3-hour wait for our room after an early start. That said, we were given our wristbands straight away, so we could use all the facilities, have some food and drinks, and start enjoying the holiday while we waited.
The food was better than expected. It would probably become repetitive over two weeks (standard for most places all inclusive) but for a one-week stay it was absolutely fine. Breakfast had loads of choice, and our kids found something to eat at every meal. We also tried the Pirates Tavern as part of the Ultra All Inclusive package. I probably wouldn’t pay extra for it separately, but it was a nice change and worth doing if it’s included.
We had the pizzas delivered to the room as part of the UAI just to make use of it (allowed 3 per room per day i think it was) seen plenty complaints about them before we came, but the pizzas we got were demolished by the kids and looked great.
The drinks were one of the highlights. Plenty of choice with Heineken, Cruzcampo and Strongbow all available. The cocktails are pre-made so don’t expect anything fancy, but they’re perfectly drinkable. Branded spirits were also included, and you can always ask for crisps or nachos at the bars too.
We hired the Balinese beds ️ a couple of times and they were brilliant – definitely worth it if you fancy treating yourself. Although people start queuing around 8:30am for sunbeds, on the days we didn’t have the Balinese beds we went down at 9:00am and still managed to get decent sunbeds without any problems. (Photo included of the location of the diff balinese beds) the ration of im rellas to beds is not great.
The pools were good, although they are very strict on no inflatables or ball games, apart from the one pool that seems about 6 metres deep! Our only real gripe was the pool depths – there are only a few shallow standing areas before they get deep quite quickly. Also, don’t expect to grab a drink from the pool bar as it’s almost impossible from that side (although drinks aren’t allowed there anyway).
The lifts definitely deserve their reputation! They were unreliable and often seemed to be on service mode for the cleaners during the day. Thankfully we were only on the 6th floor, so the stairs weren’t too bad. I wouldn’t have fancied relying on them from one of the higher floors!
Our room was a Caribbean Gold one-bedroom apartment and we genuinely couldn’t fault it. It was huge, had a massive balcony, and having a separate bedroom from the kids made a big difference. The fridge was perfect for keeping the aftersun cold, the cleaners did a great job every day, and we didn’t bother hiring a safe—we just locked valuables in a suitcase and had no issues at all.

Air con in the room was excellent and a god send - not many other areas in the hotel have air con so it was a welcome relief when we went in the room.
We made use of the day trip to aqua natura and terra Natura with UAI, had a great day out. The zoo was worth a trip and the waterpark was great to cool off later on.
Entertainment was probably the weakest part of the holiday. The timings were a bit odd and it wasn’t the best we’ve seen. Having Spain playing while we were there did make for a great atmosphere though! ⚽ especially when they wan!!
That said- the parrot show was hilarious and entertaining!
Overall, I’d happily recommend Magic Tropical Splash for a week. I’m not sure we’d return, but that’s only because we like trying different places rather than because we had a bad experience.

Regarding inflatables, there are actually two designated pool areas where they are permitted: one with greater depth and another shallower area suitable for younger guests. Our team is always happy to provide this information, so we encourage guests to ask if they are unsure.

Highly recommend
Absolutely love this hotel. Food was amazing. The whole lay out of the hotel was perfect. Fantastic evening entertainment for everyone. Staff were great,always happy. Only downside was the lifts. They were out of service or had to wait 10minutes for the other lift. Being on the 22nd floor wasn’t fun. But overall we would definitely go back.

The hotel rooms were too old and some parts were broken. The beds were too noisy. The window was blocked. We found one cockroach in bathroom. There was no blanket on the beds and when we asked for it, they bring old blankets without bedding. Overall no good maintenance of the rooms.
