Good value and great location
I came here March 2016 and booked a private room, on arrival I realized that it was actually a twin private room but that was fine with me and they didn't try to charge me extra, I booked online so you never quite know with these things but that was all ok. Very clean especially the bathrooms so another bonus. Although March is considered the start of high season there was only one other person there so it was very quiet and there is a member of staff available 247 (there is no reception desk a private lounge that they use). I would recommend this hostel if like me you like the hostel price range but not the hustle and bustle of a lively hostel (been there and done that) despite it being only March there was no common room or facilities like most hostels have so it was more like a B and B. I read somewhere that it does offer breakfast but not when I was there. Wifi included and so are towels which is info not available on the site but worth to know. My room had a radiator and extra blanket which is needed in Madrid at night that time of year. I will definitely go again. The only downer was that the key that lets you into the building didn't work, I speak Spanish so I could explain this to the staff but I was told that the key was fine and there is a knack to opening the door but I could never figure that out. I had to ring the buzzer each night to be let in.

The business owner is incompetent and a nasty man. I feel conned after the treatment we have been given, I do not recommend it at all, besides filthy and slacker is a high-handed. I don't give it 0 stars because I can't

CENTRAL AND BASIC
Friendly staff and good location on the third floor of a nice old building in the heart of the city. It maintains the charm of its antiquity that despite being already old wooden floors and doors is everything very clean and spacious. Grand wooden staircase to climb to the third floor where the Inn is.
There is no elevator and little soap replenishment in the bathrooms. Very soft mattress for long-suffering backs.

So-so hostel with a good location
I spent 3 nights in this hostel in October. I booked a single private room, but got a double-bed private room. The owner did not speak english, so he could not inform me about this - I was just surprised when he opened the door for the room. The room itself was very basic, but ok for a hostel. Only problem was that it was VERY cold! There was a radiator in the room, but it did not work and I spent the first night freezing a lot under the very thin bedcover. The next day I took the bedcover from the other bed so that I could sleep under 2 covers. This helped a lot.. I'm not sure how this would have worked out if we were actually 2 people in the room! The location is great, though. Very close to Plaza Tirso de Molina and from here it is very simple getting to and from the airport.

Great Budget accomodation
I booked 3 nights in a private room with a shared bathroom for 60 Euro's at the end of May 2012. The accomodation id fantasic for the price. The oweners are friendly, and I was upgraded to a bigger room free of charge as it wasn't booked out. The bathroom's and toliet's are spotless and always avaliable. The location of this hostel is perfect, 5 mins stroll to Sol and Plaza Mayor, 15 mins stroll to the Palace. Couldn't ask for more for the price. Only slight negative is that the wall's are paper thin, so if you get a noisy group next to you you may want to consider ear plugs. Overall I'd definately recommend this hostel and would use it again. The pictures on here don't do it justice.
