Excellent

We had an Amazing week at Hotel Papi. Nice clean rooms a lovely pool to relax in or by. A great selection of food at the buffet, something for everyone at a grat price. The restaurant was always clean and the staff were constantly ontop of everything. It was clearing relaying or refilling. They were always busy. A few members of staff who stood out were Noelia, Davy and Gilbert. A friendly greeting each and every time we went to the restaurant. One inparticular female member of staff ( I didnt get her name) made an effort everytime to speak to our youngest and make her feel welcome. Overall they were all great and hard working, A brilliant team with a fantastic leader. Thank you all at Hotel Papi for a fantastic stay.

The worst hotel

I am absolutely outraged by my experience at this hotel. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and the management’s complete disregard for guests’ health is shocking.
The biggest issue was the air conditioner in our room. After using it for just a couple of days, both my partner and I started feeling unwell. We developed breathing difficulties, which was especially alarming because we are both allergy sufferers. When we inspected the air conditioner, we found it covered in disgusting black mold. Black mold is a serious health hazard that can trigger severe allergic reactions and, in some cases, even anaphylactic shock.
On Sunday, we reported this to the reception desk. We were told that nothing could be done until Monday because, unbelievably, such a large hotel does not have a technician available on weekends. Apparently, guests’ health is not important enough to justify having maintenance staff on duty.
We spent the entire Monday away from the hotel and returned late in the evening, expecting the issue to have been resolved. Nothing had been done. When we went back to reception, we were told that the only technician had twisted his ankle at the pool and had spent the day at the hospital. Are you seriously telling me that a hotel of this size has only ONE technician?
The only solution they offered was to move us into an economy room that was significantly worse than the room we had paid for. No upgrade, no proper compensation, no alternative solution—just a downgrade. It was clear that protecting their profits mattered more than protecting their guests.
This hotel is cutting costs at the expense of people’s health. Black mold in an air conditioner is not a minor inconvenience—it is a serious health risk. The fact that management considered this situation acceptable is beyond belief. If someone ends up needing medical treatment because of their negligence, who is going to pay for it?
Because of the mold, we could not even use the air conditioning while the outside temperature was around 34°C (93°F). We had to choose between unbearable heat or risking our health.
This hotel completely failed in its basic duty to provide a safe environment for its guests. The lack of responsibility, the excuses, and the indifference we experienced were unacceptable. I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this hotel if you value your health and safety. This has been the worst hotel experience of my life, and I would never stay here again.

Will you be “Happy at the Papi”

I will give an honest review of the hotel. For the price, it’s fine. We stayed at the 4 star Hotel Papi Blau which incidentally uses the same reception, restaurant and pool area as the 3 star Hotel Papi but has better rooms we were told.
Reception and communal areas are clean, check was fairly easy, one nice receptionist, one not so. Went to room on 4th floor, key would not work so back to reception for that to be sorted. Fusty smell in room and no electricity, back to reception yet again. No other room available but was promised cleaner to check out the smell, never came. Safe was 5 euros per night but did not work so guess what, back to reception for refund on safe payment!!
By booking direct we became members of the Papi family but still had to ask for our welcome cocktail which was a drink token to use at the bar, this should be given upon check in and should not face to be asked for. We also had to ask four times for the late check out also advertised for Papi members and were told there was still a charge of 20 euros. Luckily the young blond girl did sort this for us.
Air con in room worked to a degree but didn’t really cool the room despite making the right noises. Bathroom looked new and great shower however heavily stained toilet seat underneath. Towels changed daily and room serviced. Pillows like rocks.
Breakfast was edible, nothing special but very busy some mornings. Tables very close together and queues to get in
Bar area is good and drinks/food reasonably priced. Bar staff good especially Anna and Edgar who were a pleasure to speak to, the management should be proud of them.
Pool kept clean and although I didn’t witness them many people spoke of the sunbed wars at 9am once the doors were opened. Lifeguard present around the pool.
Entertainment team good with a variety of activities ongoing, pool inflatable, foam party, face painting and bingo to name a few.
Location good, near the beach with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby
All in all, for the price it was fine. It’s certainly not 4 star but the basic needs are covered, bed, shower and breakfast.

Terrible

Absolutely one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at! The air conditioner in our room would not turn on so I went and told the front desk that the a/c in my room was not working, the reply I got from the front desk person made no sense, he told me that some people are hot, some are cold, do the owner of the hotel told the manager to shut the whole system off, no heat , no a/c! Wow what a great decision that was, now you have everybody in the hotel uncomfortable. Next up was the rude host at the hotel buffet dinner. After checking in around 8pm my wife and I decided to go to the dinner buffet. We went to our room to leave our luggage and went down to eat at 8:25pm. When we got to the hotel restaurant we told the host that we wanted 2 for the buffet. She didn't speak much English but I was able to figure out that you had to pay for the buffet at the front desk. The host was quite nasty and told us to exit because we didn't have a receipt that we paid, who knew we had to pay at the front desk? After paying at the front desk and finding out that the buffet closes at 9pm we went back to the restaurant and gave the host the paid receipt, she had a bad attitude again. We were seated at a table and right away the waitress had a bad attitude and was nasty as well. At 8:45 my wife wanted to get a drink from a drink dispenser and was told the drink dispenser was closed but she could get water from the water dispenser. At 8:55 I couldn't even get water! The room we stayed in was old and the pillows were hard as a rock! Since there was no a/c we tried to sleep with the window open, the outside noise was terrible and it didn't stop until 3am and at 6:30am it started again. I wouldn't give this hotel even a 1 rating, It's terrible- save your money stay somewhere else.
