Beautiful quiet place
Stayed there while on business in Bilbao.. Beautiful quiet village. The house is just beautiful and the owner is very friendly. The room I stayed in was incredibly spacious. I would have preferred a shower or a bath with a curtain but that was OK for two days. Breakfast was OK I guess. Different and light compared to what you would normally get in Spain. This is the kind of place I would definitely go back with my wife and my family. The gym would with some refurb but that was OK. But I guess the best has to be the view from the village and the fact that you're outside Bilbao but only 3mn to Bilbao with the funicular. And the prices included breakfast were incredible for only being 3mn from Bilbao! I'll definitely be back there!

A major setback
Penthouse near Laseileku booked for 2 nights for € 342. Including simple breakfast, though.
Upon arrival, it turned out that the accommodation is not worthy of the name "penthouse" at all.
The penthouse is a glorified attic room with an old-fashioned decor. Soft and squeaky beds. Due to its location under the pitched roof, the effective surface with normal headroom is no more than 15 m2.
The bathroom: you have to shower sitting in a bath. No shower screen. Standing up straight to dry is not possible. No glasses or cups to put your toothbrush in. And 2 mini bottles of shower gel.
We couldn't find a wardrobe. An open rack with a variety of different pendants.
The promised flat screen TV is the smallest size computer monitor. It did not work, because the cable was broken. Despite frantic attempts by the hostess. She spoke, unfortunately for us, only Spanish.
Internet is indeed free. But it's unsecured and barely any signal.
The pool was not available despite temp of 28C
And furthermore, I think it is normal to find a number of basic amenities at a “penthouse” for this price, such as: kettle, coffee and tea, fridge or minibar. Unfortunately: none of that.
So after 1 night we had seen it. A big disappointment richer and € 170 poorer.

Beautiful big old house, spotless, lovely if a bit remote
I had a nice stay here, but the place is very hard to find, and there’s another street in the centre of town with the same name so my taxi driver was stumped!
The funicular railway makes it much easier to get back into town for day trips, but the walk to the hotel is still 10-15mins on roads with very little light or pavement from the top of the rail. The owner will happily drive you it the railway in the mornings.
The bottom of the funicular drops you off very close to the Guggenheim museum (maybe 8min walk).
The owners are helpful and pleasant - note they don’t speak much English but we got on just fine with my limited Spanish and some English for their part.
Breakfast is decent and simple - breads and cakes, fresh orange juice and coffee, and boiled eggs, as well as some cereal. I could have wished for some fresh fruit but truly there’s more than enough choice there.
The room was spotless, simple and tasteful. This big old house is truly beautiful with dark wooden floors everywhere.
One main gripe was the WIFI. I struggled to get much connection at all on any of the three options given - not great for trying to finish some work on my first night there.
All in all a pleasant stay, though a shame it’s not a smidge nearer to town.

Great location - close to the city centre without actually being in it.
2 minutes on the funicular railway into the city. We had the “penthouse” which was ok, but not quite ready for the season - terrace door was jammed and difficult to open and the terrace needed a clean up after the Winter. The room was huge and spacious and would suit a family of 7 or 8. A little qwerty however as there was no door! - lack of privacy would not suit everyone. Breakfast was ok, everything we needed and served down in the converted garage. Host was charming and his English is good, but his facilities were in need of an upgrade.

Très bonne adresse
L'endroit idéal pour visiter Bilbao Loin du bruit, à 2 minutes du funiculaire qui permet de descendre au centre, près de la passerelle pour 4,3 AR : plus de problèmes de stationnement, de contraventions...
Bilbao n'est pas très grand on peut tout faire à pieds
