Great compromise between hotel and hostel

I stayed here for 10 nights with two friends. It's a really great compromise between a hotel and a hostel. We had a private apartment between the three of us with kitchen facilities but we also had access to the communal areas including the kitchen and roof terraces.
We mainly cooked in the communal kitchen which was great for meeting and chatting with other people staying at the residence. The roof terraces were great in the evening for hanging out.
The residence was very nice and clean and well organised and everyone was very friendly.
I would definitely stay again and would also recommend it for solo travelers who want to meet people but are looking for something a notch up from a hostel.

Scam

Nice apartment, rented through booking, shame that in the description of the room is mentioned a terrace where you can relax, but the terrace is only public for all guests of the structure. Only window overlooking the inside of the building. After pointing this out to the owners I was treated with sufficiency

Deceitful and nasty

Horrible rooms with a nasty dirty bathroom that is *shared* and everyone uses one towel.. did a U-turn and didn't stay. Owner decided to keep my money! Deceitful and just an overall horrible experience. I'd avoid like the plague.. so you don't catch the plague..

AMAZING PLACE TO STAY

It's been an absolute pleasure staying at Surfers Residence. It's the perfect place for meeting other kiters and travellers. Very well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, perfect location and amazing rooftop terraces with great views of Morocco. Basically, everything you're looking for. Surfers Residence is a place that feels like home, I can totally recommend this place!

Great apartment in centre of Tarifa

We stayed 2 nights in Apartment Don Juliaan. We booked last minute via their facebook page so were able to save an extra 20%. The apartment was excellent, seemed new, great kitchen facilities and good bathroom. Really comfy bed - we slept very well. The rooftop terrace is spectacular. We are not kite surfers but this did not matter (actually we hardly even saw anyone else). The location is excellent.
