Overall, we had a good stay at Hotel Don Jaime. The hotel has good facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The main issue for us was the AC. We spoke to the reception and they kindly changed our room as we requested, but unfortunately the AC in the second room wasn’t much better. I’m not sure if there was a problem with the system or simply because Valencia was extremely hot during our stay in September 2026. Either way, the room could get quite uncomfortable during the summer.
The bed was also not the most comfortable we’ve slept in, but it wasn’t a major problem.
One thing you shouldn’t forget about is the pool! The staff told us that during summer there is direct sun at the pool until around 6 p.m. After that, it gets shady and a bit windy, so I would recommend enjoying the pool before 6. There is also a bar by the pool, which is a really nice addition.

Smells horrendous, dirty room and we are sick from it
Disgraceful hotel that smells horrendous.
I booked specifically double bed room with a city view, and this was not available to me upon arrival. I had to change rooms and the only room available was Floor 1 with a terrible odour, I reported this to reception and they sprayed the room with chemicals (that I am still ill from) and I had to evacuate the room on my first day, as no other room was available that suited my booking type that I specified.
The Air conditioning was broken and when I reported this to the night staff they appeared to mock me in Spanish.
I immediately asked for a refund on the first day to stay elsewhere and they declined, and are now using this against my refund claim as the room was “in use” over the weekend, which was not my choice as they denied the refund on the first day when I wanted to leave.
They are denying any wrong doing, how can a hotel that smells so badly that you have to evacuate your room so they treat it with chemicals claim to be in the right in this situation? And be a 4 star hotel?
The room itself is mouldy, damp and utterly disgusting(see photos)
Avoid this place at all costs

Wonderful Stay at Exe Rey Don Jaime – Great Hotel and Outstanding Breakfast! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We stayed at Exe Rey Don Jaime in Valencia for three nights at the end of August. We are a family of three visiting from Canada, and overall, we had a wonderful experience.
The hotel has a great location, and the service was very good. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a comfortable mattress and pillows, which made it easy to relax after a long day of exploring Valencia.
The highlight for us was definitely the breakfast — it was outstanding! There was an amazing variety of high-quality food, with plenty of options for everyone. We really enjoyed starting our mornings there.
The only negative thing we noticed was an occasional sewage-like smell in our room. However, we also noticed a similar smell in several other places around Valencia, so this may be more of a city infrastructure issue than something specific to the hotel.
Overall, we had a great stay and would happily recommend Exe Rey Don Jaime to other families visiting Valencia.
A special thank you and a big shout-out to all the staff for the great job! Your hard work and friendly service made our stay even more enjoyable. Keep up the excellent work!

Good location
The room is very spacious, but the bathroom, even though it has a huge space for the sink, the toilet area is separate and is very small.
Otherwise, even though it might need some renovation, it met our needs. It has an excellent location.

Nice hotel, good cleanliness, kind staff, especially José at the restaurant. Cuisine needs improvement with too much chicken and little choice, breakfast was good. A bit too far from the center but convenient for the City of Science.
