Fabulous stay

We very much liked our stay with this lovely elderly lady and her kind family. The place is like from 1001 nights, and the rooms are super cool. Very quiet and quaint, with the Souks right next door in the fabulous Medina. Highly recommended!!

Beautiful traditional dar

Located in the heart of the medina, this traditional family run dar has been beautifully decorated with wonderful antiques & art. My husband & I stayed in the upstairs room with the giant bath.
The hosts Omar & his mother were very welcoming & hospitable. Unbeknown to us, we arrived the day before the Islamic Eid el-Ahed “Festival of Sacrifice”. Omar invited us to his family home (a small walk from the dar) to join his family & friends for the sacrifice & feast. It was an amazing unforgettable experience we will never forget.

Beautiful traditional Dar

A lovely traditional Dar in the heart of the Medina. Beautifully decorated, comfortable beds & linens, ample seating, blazing hot water & good water pressure. Attractive & plentiful breakfast (a little repetitive, but we were there for almost a week). Beautiful courtyard (and pet turtle).
Omar is nice and helpful, and his mother is very friendly. A wonderful highlight was that Mrs. Badia cooked a really delicious fish couscous dinner for all the guests on Friday!
A number of small, really inconsequential things kept it from being perfect; the bathroom light switch plate fell off every time it was touched; as did the faucet for the hose; despite leaving the remote to the mini split open on the table to indicate the lack of batteries (we wanted to use the fan) it was closed and returned to the shelf without batteries; there was a bad smell in the bathroom despite oil stick difusers and the 2nd night I discovered a full trash basket under the cabinet that smelled like dirty diapers. That smell lingered the entire time.
These were small, easily correctable things, and all in all this was a great stay and I highly recommend this place.

Great old dar

We had a very nice six-night stay in this elegant old Dar.
Room: we picked what I believe is the largest room (the one with the mandolin, sword and rifle mounted in the alcove) and it was stunning. The bed was very comfortable, though the pillows were a bit hard. The shower was small, but the water pressure and, with adequate warmup time, water temperature, were quite good. Since the room is on the ground floor facing the courtyard, it could be a bit noisy when breakfast was served, especially when tour groups came for breakfast only (the fact that groups come just to eat breakfast and tour the dar tells you something about how beautiful it is!)
Location: perfectly located for exploring the town, and an easy walk to several restaurants.
Staff: the owner, Omar, was solicitous, hospitable and friendly. He even had his mother, the eponymous Badia, prepare a delicious dinner one night free of charge. The sole employee was attentive and helpful. She offered us tea when we came back from outings, and cleaned our room on request. I was puzzled, however, that we had to set up our own bedding when we arrived and when it was changed.
Food: breakfast was ample and tasty, with dates, eggs, delicious fried breads, olives and condiments available every day.
Grounds: the dar, especially the courtyard, is gorgeous. Some of the rooms have adjoining patios, and the rooftop deck was comfortable and had a nice view.
Overall, I highly recommend Dar Badia.
