The room was clean with everything we needed. The beds were two twin mattress put together which kept separating leaving a gap to fall through which was very annoying and uncomfortable.
Breakfast was good, lots of choices.
Pool and spa was nice, sauna was out of order though but everything very clean.
Overall it was really nice for the price and I would go back, just would make sure it’s a full double bed!

The room was a little tired but clean and comfortable. The food was very good . Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Magnificent sea view room
The location is easily accessible from a short distance on decent B roads, ideally located for Foy and to explore nearby attractions and villages.
The grounds are serene, very peaceful. We had a large room with a sea view, with three huge windows forming a floor to ceiling bay, the light was amazing, this is a wonderful room to lay on the long sofa facing the ocean and read a book.
The bed and bedding was comfortable, and the bathroom spacious with a large bath and separate shower. We made use of the small gym and pool, which rounded off the days local exploring with a bit of relaxation and family fun.
The food was average at best, with not much choice on the menu but there are some good local places to eat, and breakfast was not the standard expected for a ‘luxury’ hotel, and the service was chaotic with too many tables packed into the pleasant dining hall when people needed to be up and down from their seats for the buffet service.
There are EV charging points reasonably priced which was a bonus.

Profit over substance
Due to it being a listed building there is no lift and the rooms have no air conditioning, but there is a tower fan in the room to make up for this. We came post-heatwave and found the rooms hot so don't know how guests would cope in hot weather.
The shower is of the mixer tap type and as there is no adaptor on the wall you are required to hold the shower in one hand while you attempt washing with the other.
Breakfast is reasonable although the buffet room is a little small to cater for all the guests and the coffee machine produces a wide selection of warm coffee; if you don't drink it immediately you sit down it becomes too cold to drink within a minute. If staying in the lodges you pay an additional £15 per person for breakfast.
We are led to believe that the new owners have cut back on costs and it definitely shows. Sitting in the lounge at night the barman left at 22:00, presumably to go home, without any word that the bar was closed. After 15 minutes, not knowing if the bar was closed, I took a wander into the reception area to ask if I could have a drink but there was nobody around.....anywhere. At 22:40 two guests walked into the lounge and were followed by a member of staff who gave them drinks and left again. I was past caring by this stage.
There is no afternoon lunch service except weekends and so its breakfast and a scant dinner menu with the lounge bar open until its closed.

Disappointing
We’ve stayed here before on numerous occasions and unfortunately standards have really declined over the years. Though the hotel room seemed to have been recently refurbished, there were a number of issues throughout our stay. An unpleasant stain on the bathroom door (immediately rectified by reception staff), room telephone not working, spoons and condiments missing at breakfast, and unprofessionally-dressed staff (not all).
The location is amazing and the hotel does have a small but nice pool. It’s a quiet location with views out to sea.
However, the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Food was dry and tasteless, and there wasn’t much choice on the menu other than a steak, a burger and a couple of salads. We wanted to eat outside (next to a table who were eating outside too) but were told we couldn’t because they were short-staffed. We moved inside to see another couple move to the table we’d just vacated and be served by the same waitress… confusing and disappointing.
Breakfast is serve yourself - for everything, including coffee. Be ready to queue for this as it’s popular and takes a while… that’s if the machine is working (it was broken for most of our stay). If you want tea you have to get up and ask for it - staff don’t come to you. We sat outside and were missing cutlery, salt and pepper and sugar pots everyday.
Dogs allowed in lodges and most public areas in the hotel so beware if you have a phobia or allergy - only the restaurant is dog-free.
