Very disappointed
The only positive is the location right in the centre of Whitstable.
For the same price you can book the Premier Inn a mile away for 2 or even 3 nights, yes you need to drive in but the rooms there would be much better!
Will not be booking this again sadly.

Beautiful boathouse : staff let down experience
We stayed at the Boat House for a night which was a lovely apartment and we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay here. The boathouse doesn’t have parking but the reception let us park at the hotel which is a short walk from the location. When I checked in I was 15 minutes early for the check in time and the receptionist scolded me for asking for a Parking permit earlier than check in time.
As we are operating in covid arrangements and this was a present for my older parents, I was keen to make sure that meals were not too much hassle and booked dinner and breakfast at the hotel.
I specifically asked by email after booking that breakfast would be included as I didn’t remember that being discussed on the rebooking call and had email confirmation that we’d have three breakfasts. On the day we checked in and I asked where we should come for breakfast and was told oh no we aren’t doing breakfast. It was fine in the end as there is a lovely beach front cafe by the boathouse, but no alternative was offered and no attempt made to proactively tell me.
Dinner at the hotel was lovely but there was a similar confusion going on about whether the hotel was actually open for dinner or not.
I could have put the above down to a lack of clarity about covid arrangements but there was one incident when we went to pick up the car from the hotel. My Mum wanted to use the bathroom before we left and we Both went in to use it and unknowingly my mum walked past the small two person queue for the bar : the bar waitress knocked on the window and sternly scolded my mother assuming she was cutting the bar queue to go sit down. Given we were paying customers of the hotel and my mother is older this was unnecessary- she used the sanitizer spray and wasn’t given a chance to explain she was going to use the toilets.
So: I do appreciate that Covid is an unusual situation for everyone involved and it must be tough for all involved but I did leave my stay feeling like the staff didn’t really appreciate having customers and they weren’t ready yet to think about customer experience.

The boathouse - beautiful
Decorated to a high standard, plenty of space and was very clean and tidy.
Location is also right on the beach front which was just perfect.
The boathouse is part of the hotel continental which is around 10 min walk away. The only down side is that there isn’t any allocated parking for the boathouse, only for the fisherman’s huts and the hotel itself. Other local car parks don’t offer long stay (not that we found anyway) so this was a bit of a pain. Especially on a busy sunny day.
But the nice lady at reception managed to secure us a space at the hotel free of charge! But this did mean we had a walk back with bags to the room.(Well my husband did!! Haha)
This wouldn’t be ideal in poor weather or if you couldn’t walk far or had a lot of baggage. But the room itself we couldn’t fault.
