Where to hire a car at Bellingham Airport
There are two car hire companies with desks at Bellingham Airport: Evergreen Town Car and Northwest Limousine Service. Both of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.
Petrol stations near Bellingham Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
Luckily there is a Yorky’s Market petrol station located just 4 minutes drive from the airport. Head southwest on Mitchell Way, continue on Airport Way then Airport Drive, turning left onto Bennett Drive where the petrol station will be on the right hand side.
Driving around Bellingham Airport
Bellingham Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. The main road, highway 5 runs north to south from the east side of the airport. It goes all the way to Richmond and Vancouver in the north and to Mount Vernon and on to Seattle in the south. The smaller 542 road goes east from the airport to Maple Falls and Peaceful Valley.

Vancouver is just an hour’s drive from Bellingham Airport. Take Mitchell Way then Airport Drive for Interstate 5. Merge with I-5N and continue on to BC-99 N. From here follow signs to Vancouver city centre. Note that you will cross the Canadian border so have the appropriate paperwork.

Seattle is just an hour and a half drive from Bellingham Airport. Take Mitchell Way then Airport Drive and get on to Interstate 5. Merge with the I-5S and take exit 165B for Union Street. Continue to Madison Street and follow signs for Seattle city centre.

It takes just 10 minutes to reach the centre of Bellingham by car from the airport. Get on to Mitchell Way and then Airport Drive. Take a right on to Interstate 5. Merge with the I-5S and take exit 253 for Lakeway Drive following signs for Bellingham.
There is plenty of parking in Bellingham from outdoor car parks to multi-storey and on-street parking. Street parking is limited to two hours and costs from $0.75 per hour. Longer stays are available in the car parks that charge approximately $6.00 for the whole day. Some hotels in Bellingham also offer free parking.
