Petrol stations near Shannon Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
The nearest petrol station to Shannon Airport can be found just outside of the city of Limerick. On the edge of Limerick, travelling back to the airport on Ennis Road, is a Topaz Station that would make the best choice for filling up the hire car. It is on the opposite side of the road, but easy to get in and out of. After filling the car, just get back on Ennis road and head to the airport.

Shannon Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. The M7 serves Dublin to the east while the M18 serves County Clare and Galway to the north. The N18 links the airport to nearby Limerick while the N20 takes visitors to county Cork.

Dublin is just 2 hours and 20 minutes from Shannon Airport by car. Simply follow the N19 to teh E20 towards Limerick then get on to the M7 for Kildare. You will eventually see signs for the M50 which is the road you want to take into Dublin. Please note that part of the E20/M7 is a toll road so be ready to pay. On street parking in Dublin can be expensive with rates from €2.90 per hour in the city centre, to €1.60 in the outer zones. Many hotels offer free parking and car parks can be a cheaper option.

It takes just 10 minutes to get out of the airport and into Shannon. Simply take the N19 east from the airport terminal. Parking in Shannon depends very much on what you intend to do and where you plan to visit but many of the popular tourist sights include parking; for example, Bunratty Castle provides parking for visitors as do the Cliffs of Moher. Some hotels in Shannon have car parking; this can be free or charged.
