What to expect in business class
Wondering what business class is really like? Here's what you can usually expect before, during and after your flight.A proper bed on long-haul flights
On most long-haul routes, the seat folds into a flat bed. You'll also have more personal space, so it's easier to sleep, relax or work during the flight.
Restaurant-quality dining
Think multiple courses, a choice of mains and a premium drinks menu. Many airlines also let you pre-order before you fly.
A smoother airport experience
Business class usually includes lounge access, priority check-in and fast-track security. When you land, your bags are often first off the belt.

Business class: what to know before you book
If you're searching for the cheapest business class flights, don't just compare prices. Knowing what's included in your ticket, when to use points and how upgrades work will help you get the best deal.Check what's included in your business class ticket
Not all business class fares include the same benefits. The seat, lounge access, baggage allowance, ticket flexibility and other features depend on the airline, aircraft and fare type. Two tickets at a similar price can offer very different experiences. Take a closer look at what's included, as well as the seat you'll be flying in, especially on overnight or long-haul flights.
Business class or premium economy?
The price difference between premium economy and business class varies. On some flights, paying a little more gets you a flat bed, lounge access and a much more comfortable journey. On others, you'll get a similar experience with premium economy for a much lower price. Comparing what's included with both cabins is one of the quickest ways to judge whether business class is worth the extra cost.
Upgrading to business class
You don't always have to buy a business class ticket to fly in business class. Many airlines offer paid upgrades before departure or at check-in, while others let you bid for an upgrade or use points and miles. If upgrades are available, work out the total cost against buying business class outright. You could end up paying less for the same seat.
Using points and miles
Business class is often where airline points give you the best value for money. Rather than using thousands of points to save a relatively small amount on an economy ticket, you can get much more from redeeming them for a business class seat. Many airlines also let you combine points with cash or use companion vouchers to reduce the cost.
Business class sales
Airlines regularly discount business class tickets during seasonal promotions, when launching new routes or to boost demand on quieter flights. Sales are usually limited to specific routes, travel dates or booking periods, so stay flexible to find a good deal.
Track business class prices
Business class fares can change quickly as airlines respond to demand and seat availability. If you're planning ahead, set a Price Alert with Skyscanner instead of checking prices every day. We'll let you know when the fare changes, so you don't have to keep checking.
