Best Hotel in our 3-week vacation in Germany

If you’re visiting Füssen, stay at Hotel Sonne! It’s a wonderful 4-star boutique gem that gives you the best of both worlds: cozy boutique vibes mixed with big-hotel perks like a spa, wellness center, and an on-site restaurant and bar. Our room was super spacious, clean, and comfy. Plus, they still offer slippers, robes, and an Espresso maker (so many German hotels have stopped doing this!). To top it all off, the breakfast was pure luxury. 10/10 recommended!

Wonderful

Our room was elegantly decorated and a lovely touch of slippers and a dressing gown.
The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Fussen and we were given a link to a Fussen card which meant free travel in and around the area. This was brilliant to use to visit Neuschwanstein Castle and lake area
Breakfast was outstanding with a lot of fresh delicious choices but with extras such as prosecco and eggs Benedict. The restaurant attached was busy and the area around was lovely to sit in and enjoy a cocktail.
Staff were lovely and helpful.
A great hotel for Fussen and also to use as a base to explore surrounding areas.
It provided on site car parking which was safe and secure for a nightly fee.

Unfortunately, my stay here fell short of expectations. Based on the pictures online, I was expecting a cozy room, but the one I received felt dated and cramped, dominated by a large four-poster bed. The room was also uncomfortable due to the lack of A/C and poor pillows, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. On the bright side, the bathroom was a pleasant surprise and stood out as the only part of the room that felt modern and comfortable.
Additionally, arriving late at night to an unstaffed reception was stressful after a long day of travel. When I shared my experience on Google Maps, I was hoping for constructive acknowledgment from management, but the response was defensive.
I wanted to share this to help future guests know what to expect.

Beware of Misleading Photos: An Extremely Disappointing Stay

My experience here was completely unacceptable. Based on the photos on the hotel's website and Google Maps, I booked a small room for a two-night stay. However, the room I received looked nothing like what was advertised. It was old, uncomfortable, and featured a bulky four-poster/canopy bed that cramped the space, paired with terrible, unsupportive pillows and—worst of all—no air conditioning, making it stifling.
To make matters worse, I arrived late at night for check-in to find the reception completely unstaffed.
When I left an honest review detailing these issues on Google Maps, management responded defensively rather than taking accountability or offering a solution. If you are looking at their promotional photos online, be warned: the reality of the rooms is a major letdown. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

This was a very modern, chic and trendy hotel. Very clean and the location was great.
We were traveling with our family and the bathroom was a little challenging because there are no doors to the bathroom or shower. The shower drain clogged, and because there is no lip in the shower, water went all over the bathroom (but the staff cleaned it up quickly).
I think this was the market rate for other hotels in Fussen, but it was expensive, and breakfast and parking wasn’t included. Maybe just not the right fit for our family, but a couple looking for a fun getaway it would be awesome.
