Simple but very nice

Simple but very pleasant, despite the language barrier with kindness we understand each other. Well slept well eaten. A small bathroom door problem but otherwise everything was ok, the room was clean and the bedding nice, starting from amazing hikes.

We booked this hotel with you Hotels.com BUT when we've arrived they said "They don't have any of our reservation from your website" ... why's that ? And we needed to find another hotel.

Cheap, dated and disappointing

Budget dated hotel in need of some TLC and double glazing. You get what you pay for.
We stayed two nights in the hope of walking the Samaria Gorge which sadly was closed to the public in the only day we could go so did another smaller walk instead.
Basic rooms with thin walls so you can hear the neighbouring rooms and above. Single glazed windows meaning a fair bit of condensation on the mornings and a very small and basic bathroom ... on the plus side there's WiFi in the rooms. Breakfast at €6 pp was bread, cheap jam, a hard boiled egg, a glass of OJ and a cup of instant Nescafe though there is fresh coffee at an extra cost. We had breakfast on the one morning only deciding to eat elsewhere in the day we were leaving knowing we'd get a better choice and deal elsewhere. We ate there only one evening as well ... my wife had homemade bean soup and said it was very nice ... I had bland grilled chicken and chips (which looked and tasted like they'd been reheated) and that was it ... no vegetables to accompany.
The staff were pleasant enough but there was a dog barking outside at night which set of another dog which I think was inside the hotel ... this went on for some time! My wife booked the hotel and had we read any of the reviews prior we wouldn't have stayed there ... several of whom (some dating back 5 and 6 years) said it's in need of a refurbishment which was correct and still not appearing to have been acted upon yet.
This is a budget, no frills hotel ... you get what you pay for ... nothing more.
I would not stay here again.

Ancient Greece

An old, run-down mountain hotel in Omalos, a lot
vintage and characteristic, typical of old Crete, but extremely pleasant. Perfect location for Samaria Gorge. Spartan but comfortable rooms, quick dinner and excellent welcome.

Great location if you trekk Samaria Gorge, very nice staff and owners

Ideal location if you want to trekk Samaria Gorge. Exceptional staff, very friendly and helpful: they even tracked and delivered back to us the phone that we left on a local bus! Great food, freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Overall very warm and relaxing atmosphere in beautiful mountain location.
