Where to hire a car at Crete Chania Airport
There are three car hire companies with desks at Crete Chania Airport; Europecar, Hertz and Kappa. All of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.

Driving around Crete Chania Airport
It is easy to get around Crete from Chania Airport. Highway E75 (A90) goes along the North coast of Crete from Heraklion to Kissamos; by the southern outskirts of the town. The old road, is still called 90, is parallel to the new highway and is the main road through all the small resorts west of Chania

Heraklion is Crete’s capital and another site of archaeological significance. Venetian walls and forts, ancient churches and a pretty harbour are just a few of its main sights. Alongside the historic lies the modern Heraklion with its welcoming locals, lively bars and restaurants, great food, designer shops, wonderful outdoor markets, museums and a general party atmosphere.
Heraklion is just over 2 hours by car from Chania Airport. Get on the E75 and take a left on the A90 ramp to Rethymno. Take the exit to Irakleio.
With an intact Old Town, Chania is another harbour town which boasts beautiful Venetian and Turkish architecture, blissful hammams for relaxing in, seafront restaurants, craft shops, delicious cuisine and a wealth of surrounding mountain villages and rural landscapes to explore.
Chania is just 20 minutes from the airport. Head east and get on to the Aerodromiou Soudas road to Akrotiriou then turn left onto the El. Venizelou. Follow signs for Chania.
On street parking is Parking is permitted along most city streets, but spaces may be difficult to find. In some areas you have to buy and use a Parking Card, which can be bought at a nearby kiosk. Some hotels in Chania also offer free parking.
