Knossos is just 10 minutes by car from Heraklion Airport. Get on to the E75 from the airport and take the exit for Irakleio, following the sigs for the centre.
Heraklion is Crete’s capital and another site of archaeological significance. Venetian walls and forts, ancient churches and a pretty harbour are just a few of its main sights. Alongside the historic lies the modern Heraklion with its welcoming locals, lively bars and restaurants, great food, designer shops, wonderful outdoor markets, museums and a general party atmosphere.
Heraklion is just 7 minutes by car from Heraklion Airport. Simply head southeast, exit the roundabout and continue on Leof. Ikarou.
On street parking is available in Heraklion and is charged 24 hours a day from Monday to Sunday in the city centre and costs from €0.50 for 15 minutes. The maximum parking time allowed is 2 hours. On the outskirts of the city centre, parking is charged from Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and on Saturday from 9am to 6pm. The rate is €0.50 for 30 minutes. There are also large capacity car parks which cost from €1.20-€1.70 per hour or €10 for the whole day. Free parking is available outside the city with Park and Ride services. Some hotels in Crete Heraklion also offer free parking.
