This gorgeous nature reserve is around an hour from the city centre, or 66.5km. The mountain chain is topped with an ancient Levantine Mediterranean forest, and has some excellent hiking trails.
Best for beaches: Javea It takes just over an hour and five minutes to drive to Javea from Alicante, which is 84.4km away. Javea boasts 20km of golden sands, including the beautiful La Granadella, widely regarded as one of Spain's best beaches.
Best for families: Terra Mitica This legend-themed theme park is around 35 minutes (40km) drive from Alicante, on the outskirts of Benidorm. It's divided into five zones – Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia, and the Islands, all of which have their own unique rides and attractions.
