Lukla is the gateway to the Khumbu region! Most EBC treks begin with a flight into this airport and don't spend much time in the town itself. There is a lot to see, but the airport is definitely the main attraction!

Got money? Take a trip to the most dangerous airport in the world while experiencing the most tranquil mountain range around. The Sir Hillary and Tenzeng Norgay Airport in Lukly, Nepal. Trek the highest mountains, visit virgin ground, safe from industrialism . . . enjoy!

Have extra days in your itinerary if you're flying to Lukla. I made it in just fine, but was stranded in Lukla for three days on the way out because of bad weather - so no airplanes flying. Lots of time, though, to spend with the locals and drinking coffee at the Lukla Starbucks.

Scary airport, but an exciting start of EBC trekking.
