Nungwi is the village and northernmost beach on Zanzibar. It is a popular stop for backpackers, as there is a vibrant nightlife scene and plenty of inexpensive accommodation. There are several restaurants, some fun and funky bars, SCUBA and fishing outfitters, a natural aquarium, and long stretches of white sand.
A very pleasant beach resort town in the north of Zanzibar, Nungwi offers great food, sexy accommodations, and water sports should you be looking for them. Don't expect a rollicking night scene, but there are a couple of bars which could be fun to check out at night. Don't miss a meal at the LangiLangi Beach Bungalows restaurant; their rasta chef makes a mean curry.
Nungwi is the perfect place to relax after a safari. We spent six days just relaxing, reading and exploring the crystal clear waters and white sand beaches. I would highly recommend spending the majority of your time here rather than Stone Town while you're in Zanzibar. Also, a heads up, there are no ATMs in Nungwi (as of summer 2012). So if you need cash, be sure to hit one of the few ATMs in Stone Town before heading north!
As you can see this beach is just like a dream, beautiful colors, nice water.. Great food! I like this beach for it's beauty and deals...
