This is a surprisingly vibrant town with a mall right in the heart of downtown. Lots of little local shops and plenty to see. Not exactly on the tourist circuit but that's what is so nice about it. Easy to spend some time here as a break from the road
A former coal town in northeastern Pennsylvania that has seen some depressed times a few decades ago that is only now beginning to come to life again. Interesting local culture due to the diverse immigrant populations that moved here in the 19th and 20th centuries to work in the various industries of mining and iron production.
Scranton is town in Pennsylvania that deals with old industry age. It is also when Steamtown National Historic Site is locate. It is also a gateway city into I84 and I81 to other areas of the state.
